There shouldn't be first 2 rounds to be played on a home field-- 6 team playoff. 6 vs. 5, 4 vs. 3, winner of 4 vs. 3 plays 2, winner of that plays winner of (6 vs. 5) vs. 1.
6 teams. 3 games more at most. takes no longer than the month of December and first 10 days of January.... seem familiar?
Perfect system. You've included enough to make it a legitimate playoff without being too bulky and weighted down by boring games. Haven't added too many games. End at a reasonable time. And with 5 games it adds NO non BCS bowls to the "circuit", if you will.

There are 11 conferences so 6 teams is obviously not enough. 17 is the way to go.
