Stuart Bell, Louisiana State University's executive vice president and provost, will be the next president of the University of Alabama.
"I certainly look forward to leading this University as its next president," Bell said. "It is just great to be here in Tuscaloosa, to be in Alabama, and to once again be able to say 'Roll Tide.'"
Bell previously worked at the university for 16 years, teaching in the mechanical engineering department before rising through the ranks and eventually leaving the department.
He then went on to head the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas before leaving for LSU in 2012.
