I filed my taxes on January 24. I always file early because my W2 are always ready pretty early. Plus, I'm single with no dependents, no big deductions (only a 401k and an HSA), so it goes pretty quick and easy.

And my refund is already in my account! Color me shocked as it's never gotten there that quickly. I was expecting at least 3 weeks.


Well, the federal refund is there. It always takes the state of Alabama a bit longer. Which is another nice surprise...I'm actually getting a refund back from the state, this year. I got one last year and that was the 1st time in a loooooong time that I didn't have to pay extra to the state. I'm not getting back that much from the state, but it's a hell of a lot better than having to pay them more.

So true.

But I'm happy that the state of Alabama no longer considers a federal income tax refund is income and taxes it. Because they used to do that. That one always pissed me off. You were literally paying a tax on a tax.
