Makes it immune to filibuster (60)

You're mixing the joint Senate effort on this issue - that has yet to be finalized - with the un-passable House bill. They are not related, in my view.

Can't bring up the suicide angle as they argue those would go down. I find it doubtful that it would impact it too much. Firearms are only a little over half of US suicides (52.83%) and many of those will move to other methods.

BTW. Don't search anything related to suicide on Google. They always think you are going to try it. As much as I have researched statistics on various aspects of it I am probably on a watch list somewhere.

I agree, anyone willing to put a gun to their head is willing to do something else to kill themselves. A permanent solution to a temporary problem, and tragic for the individual and those they leave behind. I just didn't want it unsaid that suicides are a significant component of gun deaths in the 15-19 age range.

Red flag laws are unconstitutional and the pretext or slippery slope of disarming the populace or at least the right side of the political spectrum. Listen to the propaganda coming from the dems. Any disagreement is framed as mental illness or white supremacy.
The Courts have not decided that yet. As long as it includes processes similar to those that are required for a warrant, I suspect the courts will allow them.

Agree, all you need is one liberal Federal judge who says "anyone who wants to own a gun is mentally deficient"

Judges elected in your area, right?
Yes. Doesn’t make me feel any better or worse. Elected and selected judges happily execute any law they are told to. How many innocent people will lose their guns simply because it’s too expensive to fight only to find out the right is gone forever because they didn’t fight? It’s fucking bullshit.

We protect everything valuable with a gun.
Our President, Our senators/congressmen, Our Governor's, The rich elite with their private security........all are protected with guns.

Since 1990, we have protected our children in schools with a sign that says, "Gun Free Zone".

We just sent 40 Billion Dollars to Ukraine. We could all but eliminate school shooting tragedies in this country, but that would not fit the narrative pushing us toward socialism.

Not sure why McConnell is siding with Dems on anything. They and their voters hate him as much as those on the other side hate Pelosi.
The Senate framework has key differences with the House bill. No limitations on magazine capacity, no restrictions (age or type) to purchase firearms. What I don't like (and I think it will be struck down) is if you've ever had a restraining order regarding spouse/partner (which in some legal camps is a standard device to discredit the man), you can't purchase a firearm in some cases. Spending more on mental health and school security is something few will oppose (other than a fiscal stand on spending).

Personally, I'm fine with background checks including juvenile records. Perhaps that's because I was charged as an adult...
