I get that to a degree. If I'm at a dessert bar and have a choice of anything that's there pie is down the list. It's not because I don't like it. Hell, I use pie crusts often...but not for traditional pies.
My grandmother passed down an apple cake recipe that I've never had anyone say they didn't like. It's a prep time thing that keeps me from making it more often. (...was going to make a chicken pot pie this afternoon and realized I forgot one of the ingredients--no, not the chicken.)
