I've said that before. And I've said that if I ever came into a bunch of money, that's they day I stop working (as long as it's enough $$$). But I absolutely LOATHE working OT. And we have to start working OT next week. How long? Indefinitely. It's only an extra hour each day, but it's unnecessary, imo. Especially since what I do contributed nothing to the cause of WHY we're having to work OT. But since other people in my department can't do their part, we all have to suffer.

Yes, I know it's more money...but I don't give a shit. I'd much rather have the time than the money. Time is WAY more valuable to me. But now I have to adjust all my shit because some people at work can't keep their shit together.

OT should NOT be mandatory anywhere. It should be voluntary.

Was always mandatory in the maintenance field. Put up the extra cash and maybe you can retire sooner.

I wish. The extra money I'd get will be taxed even more than normal. Also, I make shit pay so the little extra won't amount to much anyway. I'd have to work OT for a few years for it to even make a difference. And I can tell you will NOT be doing that.

Thought no tax on ot now? I didn't mind working ot on my scheduled days but didn't like working my off days. What do you do?

Amen.....Our outages were always in the spring and fall, always started out trying to cut cost and save money, so it would start as 6/8's. They would always get behind, and we would always end up on 7/12's, I never saw one single outage end on the date the planners set for completion, it was always 2 to 4 weeks late.

Ours "ended" on time we just weren't able to run correctly for the next 2 to 4 weeks. Most i ever worked was 21 16s straight, I was a zombie. Paper mill was always in the fall, automotive was 4th of July and Christmas when operations had mandatory vacation.

Power plants planned outages were always spring and fall, usually March and November so we could run wide open in "peak" season. Today it's got to where every month is "peak" season due to demand, so they stagger the outages now.
