I'm so not encouraged by our younger generations. From drugs, lack of education, gun violence, lack of respect of others, kids having kids, impatience, selfish attitudes and addiction to social media there has been a tremendous break from reality and they just don't get it. They live for the here and now and expect EVERYTHING to be given to them. The value of hard work, commitment, dedication and perseverance are foreign concepts to the vast majority. And that's the problem! This kid literally has had all this opportunity handed to him and its not enough! Yes, he plays football. Yes he probably lived in the gym and trained very hard, but the real lesson that is going to sustain him in life was either never taught to him or has been lost. He's making more money than 54% of all working Americans and its not enough. Add in the total value of his FREE educational opportunity and he's making more than 90% of all working Americans. A reality check is coming and it's going to be painful.

I am sure all generations say this and likely say it feels different this time. That is what I think. Things are different with the current state of our country and what the so called leaders are teaching our youth. Do not want to blame all of this on the political leaders, certainly lots of failed parenting this generation.

But when i hear younger...( who isnt) sitting at Starbucks...drinking a 5$ coffee..texting on their 1200$ phone with 500$ month service....wearing 600$ nikes....pissed off cause gas is 3$ a gallon...and what it cost to drive their crew cap pickup with a 5+ liter engine...

We reflect some at dinner at the 24 house about the irony in what people spend their money on and what prices they complain about. Buy a $6-$7 coffee, sometimes multiple times a day and $3.50 for a tea at dinner at the restaurant, but belly-ache over a loaf of bread being $3. Theirs some good ones if you pay attention to some of the things people complain about, and especially the people yours talking about with the oversized/high-dollar vehicles and finest of everything. Sounds like this kid is learning that lifestyle at an early age.

Maaaaaan, most kids graduating high school don't know how to balance a checkbook (which is almost pointless with online banking) & there is no way in hell they know how to formulate a budget. Then we start to drop all these dollars in their lap with NIL... Pooooof, it gone... literally & figuratively.

It should be mandatory HS graduation requirements to take pass a basic finance/budget class. But hell, that'll never happen as long as the politicians won't do the same thing.

I took a basic accounting class in high school. I took it so I could fill out my requirement for hours. But I learned a lot. Of course back then there was no internet, cell phones, etc. Everything was done on paper and through the mail (USPS). Now I'm not the best with money. And I'll be the first one to admit that. But I think if I had the kind of money these kids are getting, I'd be more than OK.

Also, they need to watch the videos put out by guys like Bo Jackson and Shaquille O'Neal. Both of those guys were smart with their money. And both have more money, now, than at the height of their respective careers. They both invested smartly and let their money make more money for them.

And Shaq tells a story about when he was talking with a very wealthy guy about what he does with his money. He said rich people take half their money and invest it, save it, etc. They use the other half for houses, cars, bills, fun, etc. But wealthy people take only 25%. They save the 75% to invest, then use just 25% for houses, cars, bills, etc.

As well, Shaq has a doctorate in education.
