The amount of jabs made from some of our forum members towards the Auburn posters here that have been nothing but classy and have shown some very good insight from the outside.

Seems like no matter what is said, there are ALWAYS those who try to continue to belittle, or attempt to, others.

Childish...nuff said.

Never will understand the fans whose hatred for their rival supersedes their love of their own school. Idiotic.

If it makes anyone feel better I post on an Auburn board with the exact same viewpoint I have now and there are fringe people there that hate me and assume I am a fair weather fan. Then I point out that they are being petty and homerish and they call me a "bammer."

All of our teams have an unfortunately large group of fans that just don't want to be reasonable. It's just part of being in the SEC.

I will say that the this board is among the more civil and reasonable of any SEC teams boards I peruse.

well, while i agree that there is no need to take cheap shots, we have not seen any rival fans around this board for about 2 years.. i think that the auburn fans showing up at this point is a little classless in itself.. there is motivation for them to come here now and i seriously doubt it is to talk football...

i do agree however that they should be allowed to post.. i think it is a very weak gesture to not allow rival fans to a board whether it be good times or bad times..

I disagree. It's not like a whole hoard of opposing fans have made their way here. There have been a couple but as long as they wipe their feet at the door, it's all good.

Rival fans add a lot to our board, as long as they behave themselves. Our two most freguent "Aubie" posters have conducted themselves well. Perhaps there is a bit of gloating, but look at the season they've had.

My thread about congratulating Auburn on their victory seems to have disappeared, but I meant that thread not as hatred toward their fans, though I can cite plenty of examples from last year when no good will was wished upon Alabama.

Most of the folks who pull for Bama are at their boldest when Bama is winning. It's fitting that we have a season where we DON'T win every game, to bring those people back to earth. Frankly, it got a little heated down in Tuscaloosa and other parts during our 2 year run, and some fans forgot that you will not win every game. Some of those same folks are clammoring for a coaching change or whatever if Bama loses a couple. Grow up.

I don't think I've attacked a single Auburn poster on this board. I'm glad they are here to provide balance, and I value their opinions as outsiders. You need that. It's nice to have on this board, and shows this website's appeal and reach. We've had some good posters from other programs as well, as well as a few douchbags.

All that said, I'm still taking the hard line approach when it comes to THIS Auburn team: I have a hard time congratulating them for this season because of the way the team has held itself at times. The entire back story on Cam Newton makes their wins less impressive to me, and gives me pause when I consider his lack eligibility. The way the NCAA has handled it so far also further undermines their credibility, as if they had much to begin with. When Auburn has to vacate this season, potentially, I will say "I told you so", but I'll also say to Bama fans that this should be an example to our program NEVER to allow the actions of one player (and all of his family/associates) to override the importance of TEAM. To me, Auburn University sold their soul to do what Bama did the past two years (go undefeated, be in contention for a title, or win a title) and that cheapens what they have done. That is no snobbery directly at their fans or any poster on this board. Just the way I feel about their success.

About the thread that disappeared....I consolidated all the Auburn threads on the Bama forum into the "Cam Newton" thread and moved it to the "other college teams" forum. No threads were deleted, just moved off the Alabama football forum.

Actually, I think Duder was around the whole season even while we were both still undefeated. Foshman has been more recent. In both cases, make no mistake about their Barn slant, but they do typically present themselves well with intelligent posts and well conceived lines of logic. I have seen them antogonized and get frisky in return, but that's to be expected.

As others have said, I appreciate the other perspectives as long as they are not obnoxious. We'll see if they stick around next year when I believe Auburn will take a significant slide as a result of all the players they will lose.

Like ExiledTideFan, I started a thread directed to Duder encouraging his boys to honor their victory over Bama by kicking some serious butt the rest of the way. That thread was also probably consolidated.

To me the Cam Newton situation is separate, that is, the goings on surrounding Cam Newton, his Dad, Pat Dye, Bobby Lowder, Milton McGregor, Gene Chizik, etc., are not the work of the fans that post here - at least I don't think so! ;) As such, I take them for their posts and engage when I feel like it. This year has been almost surreal for them - without Cam Newton, they would have easily lost to at least, Clemson, USCe, UK, LSU, and Bama and possibly MSU and UGa as well - they may not have even made a bowl. The Cam Newton firestorm has been so prominent in their success that it transcends the whole season and, indeed, makes it surreal. Most of us have never seen anything like it - to go with a low-performing new coach, start off with barely 7 wins, then suddenly a top 5 recruiting class and a national championship run ALL WITHIN A YEAR... well, like I said, it's surreal. I've said it before - I don't think the Cam Newton story is even close to being over and I think the names mention above are all involved, but we'll see.

Meanwhile, though I admit it is hard to do, I want my SEC and Alabama brethren to do us proud and honor their victory over us.

Okey dokey. Fair enough. I should have posted it over on other teams anyway. Had nothing to do with Bama. My bad!

No, no. Not chastising. Normally it's not an issue around here to post what you'd like on the football forum, because it is the most viewed. We just had 7 threads pertaining to either Cam Newton or Auburn at the top of the forum. Wasn't trying to hush anyone.

I am always around but I don't post for long periods of time. A lot of times, by virtue of living in Texas and having other interests, I simply don't have an informed opinion. And since I'm enough of a jackass when I do have an informed opinion I think its better to give you guys a break when it's just me thinking out loud.

I do think I congratulated you guys several times last season though. I also whiffed horribly on Saban not taking the job several years back, although I don't think the Dolphins knew about it either and that's where my source got it from.

And I do what I can to help the site out when possible. I like what you guys have built here.

I'm not going anywhere. And I'll never pile on you guys when things go bad.....unless provoked....and even then it will be more like a big brother busting his little brother's balls.

Kudos to all involved.

Indeed--I've been posting actively since before the season started and have been here off and on for a couple of years. More off until recently--when I came around at the beginning of the season this time around it was the first time I wasn't just mocked to hell and back and it was actually fun posting and debating with most of you guys.

Rollin, I appreciate your thought. To the chagrin of some, I plan on hanging around for a while. When the Auburn hate gets dialed-up extra high, I tend to fade into the background a bit just to avoid the obvious nastiness that any response I can offer will bring.

Most of the jabs at me are good-natured rivalry, and some of them are actually pretty funny. Of course, foshman and I are pro-Auburn but I think we both do a good job of not being "that guy" generally!

I like that we have other schools' fans to come in and talk some football. As long as we remain civil, I think it is healthy to get some other viewpoints. Duder you have been classy from day 1 my friend and I hope you continue to come around. Foshman, I think you have been a class act as well. I have visited one of your boards before and there have been several that were less than cordial and several that welcomed me. Just like being at a game, you have all kinds!!
