I mean Florida was a doormat in the SEC for 50+ years. Let's be honest Charlie Pell wound them up and got them their first SEC title in 1984 he also got that stripped for cheating and probation!

Now Since S.O.S. became their Coach in 1989 he built a winning program that could compete on a National level and I applauded them even after they beat us in the 90's and won their 1st Nat. Title... but since like '99 they have bred a toatally different fan base that is so arrogant and oblivious to class and character! I mean I bit my tounge and pulled for the SEC in '06 and '07....

But in good conscience I cannott pull for Florida any longer I am so sick of their fans! They have an outstanding coach in Meyer whether we choose to believe it or not but as soon as Charlie Fat Arse Tuna is runout of southbend he will be gone! And when the Florida Gaytors come back down to earth! Their doormat status will comeback and they will be humbled! and when I hear them talk of their past history with Spurrier and Meyer! well We will have the last laugh!JMHO!

I can't help it, the SEC laughed at us, Kentucky and Vandy got my support, but the rest of them can be our whipping post.

I probably come into this years NC game a little differently than most.

It's never been "I root for conference teams" when it comes to football games.

With me, it boils down to the football teams I grew up supporting.

Florida came on the scene in the '90's. OU was on the scene long before they were. We have so much in common with the school that I have a respect for them, their tradition...the list goes on.

No matter who wins the BCS NC, I'll have good things to pull from the game. It won't be "rooting against Florida" from my end, it won't necessarily be "rooting for OU either."

I'll root for Tebow to have a good game. I'll root for Sam Bradford to have a good game.

I'll think back to November of 2005 and still wonder why our staff didn't work harder to get Brandon Spikes...geez, it would be nice to have him on our linebacking corps right now.

Since Bama gets no national respect, it does help for the rest of the conference to do well in bowl games and ooc games. If the rest of the conference sucked, we would find ourselves in the same situation as USC in the PAC1 except that we WOULD NEVER get the love from the media and polls that USC does. They go undefeated in their conference with maybe 4 other teams that even have a winning record and they are the best team ever. Bama goes undefeated in the SEC and well, it must be a down year for the SEC....

But yes, I have a hard time rooting for LSU, UGA, the barn, UT, and now Florida. Other than a few fans who frequent this board, they NEVER root for us out of conference. Especially if a championship is involved. I would not root for them ever were it not for what I described above.

I think this culture that Spurrier brought to the SEC. Has been classless I mean winning football has been replaced with arrogant, run the score up mentality and Nationally it has turned into a beauty contest! I think if the other Conferences won't re-align and have a Championship game then the SEC and Big 12 should drop there's. It's time for a playoff of some kind period! Listen Florida beat us fair and square on the field! Texas got hosed! and the Pac-1 and big 10 have 1 team. The freaking Acc is a joke this year and the big east well :lol: Playoff's please!

I never pulled for teams just because of their conference affiliation. The rest of the SEC can sink into the abyss, as far as I am concerned. All that matters to me is Alabama.

So GO SOONERS!! BEAT THEM GATORS!!!

I hate rooting for the SEC teams, and I won't do it this time, though it will make no difference anyway. UF will win this game unless Tebow looses a leg or something. Anyway, the possible silver lining to the SEC winning these NC's (this will be 3 in a row this year), is that when it boils down to it, these 1 loss teams might get more national respect than other 1 loss teams when voters consider what our best conference teams do in the biggest game. Alabama very well could be that 1 loss team next year, fighting USC, OU, and Texas for that spot in the BCS title game. I think the reputation that the SEC holds (thanks to LSU and UF), would certainly benefit us in terms of getting us one of the top 2 spots.

All that said... let's just go undefeated and not worry about it. BOOMER SOONER!

I don't understand how anyone that lives outside of the south, that pulls for a SEC team, could not pull for the entire conference to do well. When you get outside the south it becomes very evident just how much our conference is despised. :evil:

I don't wave the SEC banner at anytime. I'll pick my winners for the bowl season based on what I think is the best team except for (LSU, Barn, UF, and UT). I don't care if they're favored by 30 in a bowl I'll pull for the "dog". Those fanbases are dillusional and absolute idiots when it comes to any sport.

I'm all for the SEC looking like the best conference, but if Florida wins the NC...it will do nothing to help Alabama. It may sound selfish but I really don't care if Oklahoma beats Florida. The Big 12 can have their bragging rights, but as long as Alabama keeps rising...I won't give a damn.

The few sitting near me seemed to be somewhat reasonable. In fact a very nice man and his wife/Gators were talking with my young son about how special it was to be at this game and did he play football,etc...these were the exceptions...they say sometimes your fan base takes on the personality of the head coach?

I thought the Florida fan base sucked and it's not because we lost. This rude arrogant stuff was happening before the game! Most of them needed taking out back and beaten somewhat. They act like new money :lol:

I had no problem pulling for Florida and LSU against Ohio State, since I can't stand Ohio State. I've always kind of liked Oklahoma, except in the Switzer years. Its Boomer Sooner for me.

I was at the game also, a Gayturd 2 rows down from us started a fist fight. The BAMA guy left and a mother moved her kid to our section to avoid him. He was ejected from the game by other BAMA & Florida fans. Most of them were OK, but that snorting they do is ugly. Later on the Gayturds girl friend returned and removed his jacket. They left.

Thank you to the OU supporters. I was feeling guilty for leaning toward the Sooners. I started to root for OU back during our home-and-home series because of the rapport between the two schools. One of my best friends here in Morgan City is a Sooner fan and that made me want to pull for them, too. I think that's exactly what I'll do.

Now, if only the Gator fans realize that it ain't because they beat us...

I lived amongst the gaytors for 10 years. I hate em' as bad as most of you guys do. They are arrogant because the majority of their fan base has never seen them have a losing season. They haven't had a losing record since 1979. Yeah, I couldn't believe it either until I looked it up.

The older gaytor fans seem to be for the most part OK, but the young ones (under 30) are absolutely obnoxious. One year after a game in Gainesville, one of their fans tried to urinate on me as I was leaving, and they had won. Unbelievable.

BTW- I will be pulling for you guys against the Utes. I don't have a absolute rule that I pull for the SEC, it really depends on the situation, the coach and who they are playing.
