They used to be mine, too. When Coach Bryant died, Schembechler was, in my13 yo mind, the only legendary coach around (I couldn't/wouldn't count Joe Pa because PSU was still a rival). I quit liking them so much when Rich Rod took over.
That was a point of hesitation as well. It wasn't so much that they hired Rich Rod but the manner in which they ran off Lloyd Carr.
When we started seeing the run by the SEC in the BCSNC's we also got a glimpse into what a lot of their fans were like. Granted, I'm pigeon-holing some of them, but as I do that I'm sure you'll see why...
You recall the hype created by oversigning.com? Not only did that site, and it's message, mirror that of a lot of Wolverine fans it also gave us a real good glimpse of how a lot of B1G fans thought.
That led to all the BS with Ohio State and how hypocritical they'd become under Tressel...
Now, as it stands today, I can appreciate their tradition but it pretty well stops there. I'll watch them in a bowl game IF it's against a team that I think will give me a good game to watch. I'll watch them if I happened to see score updateā4th quarterāand it's a slow enough SEC day I'll change the channel for a minute.
Reminds me of their fans talking about the "Big House" when they were in Tuscaloosa for a softball regional...trying to make comparisons to BDS, lauding it as such a better football venue, and they'd never set foot inside our stadium.
Their "back to reality" moment in Dallas in 2012 started off one of my most favorite seasons as a fan...
