If you think about that, that play is all about field position. It's not about change of possession.

There's a deep ball strike when the O is between the 40's. And, more importantly, a "noodle arm" can make that throw.

I must admit that I have been slightly holding my breath for Lane to have one of his "Lane" moments but I do believe that CNS has had a positive effect on him. As long as he is an assistant coach, I just don't see him doing anything completely boneheaded. Sure, he may call an inappropriate play at some point but what OC does not do that? I think his positive has far outweighed his negatives.

What USCw may be thinking is this! WE wish that we had Lane as our QB and not as head coach. I guess him and his Dad just not a head coach. Monty hasn't that I know been a head coach.

IT is ALL about field position!! I always start easing up in my seat when we hit our own 40. I know it is coming!! If it is a pick, then it is just like a punt and no huge loss.

@TerryP , when I was coaching, the HC and I talked about how all week, IF we got field position, we would go play action to start the game. We set our field position to be at the -35 in order for us to try it on the opening kickoff. That night, we bobbled the kickoff and started at the -25. The HC looked at me and said, "what do you think?" My response, "you are the Head man, I'll signal whatever you call! The kids are expecting us to call it though!" I signaled the play in and we hit a 75 yard post to start the game and the rout was on!!!
