🏈 I bet Saban doesn't like this interview out there.....

I noticed this last night watching FilmRoom. I was thinking the same thing wondering if discussing tendencies would tip off future opponents. And I'm sure there are just some things that can't be changed due to speed, technique, and such, but I was still very surprised they discussed that on television. I'm also sure these coaches are brighter than we are on these things and are well aware.

Ryan Anderson doing an interview and discusses TAM linemen giving up hints on weather run or pass. I know some of this stuff is common knowledge kind of like the white knuckles and such....But now teams will address this moving forward and will not give up info. Saban is a freak for getting every little advantage. I dont like this being out there..

What I wonder is, would Anderson, give up the goods if this OL wasn't a senior? I think not.

I think this was discussed on the broadcast during the game too... I can't remember if it was on the radio or on CBS, but they talked about it while the game was going on. I listened to the game on the radio while I was driving and the watch it recorded later that night and I don't remember if it was Eli or Chubby that was talking about the lineman stance as a tell for aTm... either way, it seems that it is/was a very much known thing.

Anyway, it's an easy fix... just lineup as a pass play a few times and run the ball... and vice versa... all you need is a bit of doubt in the mind as to how confident that tell is and then it's not much of a tell anymore...

It's not a secret that only Alabama has. This "secret" has been used since when I played. If opposing teams change the stance of their players, they create a disadvantage for themselves.

yeah...might be just this guys tendency....idk. I don't know though. I have watched a few of our opponents games and though.....I know i could do a better job coaching this game. Maybe i'm just a jerk. I would like to think that TAM coaches would have coached up this senior not to give tells.....But they didn't. This is supposed to be a upper crest SEC school. Sooooooo.....what makes you think that the other teams aren't now brushing up on there tells also. Just saying.......Lets give up our inside info after we lift up the Trophy ya know?

I also didn't like Foster discussing Mack Wilsons hit..."As Attempted Murder"
Not a good look for the field office. Another one of those and he will get tossed. Just kind of hamstrings our guys in going for the hit. I know he was excited and all but....I get a feeling that Foster will not be doing anymore interviews.

Maybe it was more important to get that extra first step against our pass rush than it was to try and hide the play... I know I wouldn't have wanted to try to block our Dline in that game... brutal...

It's possible coach Saban will be giving both players and the team a refresher course on public speaking soon. Neither comment sounded smart.

And Rueben, no, no, no. All week we have had the entire SEC talking about whether that was a clean hit and he turns around and uses an expression like attempted murder. Wow, that came off bad.

Do I need to remind you guys of the revolving door formerly known as Chris Capps? The infamous lemedy million sack game against the Barn-turds? The AU defensive lineman said the same thing about our o-line around 2005. Knew it was run or pass by the way the O-line had their hand on the ground.

Way back in my day, you could tell by the stance. Weight forward, firing out for a running play, weight back ready to retreat for a pass. Much more sophisticated now. I am sure most teams at our level scout themselves for things like this, as well as for predictable tendencies in certain down and distance situations. It was 2011 or 2012 that western Kentucky defenders said after the game that they could tell what play was coming by the stances of our OL.

Western held us to 103 yards on 31 carries. McCarron was sacked 8 times for -38 yards. A senior DL for them had 3 of those sacks and he was quoted afterwards saying that he could tell from DJ's stance whether it was run or pass.

Back in the days of yore playing DE in high school I was lined up with a big old OT that outweighed me by 125 lbs. He used a 4 point stance and literally whichever direction left or right the play was going that hand would white knuckle clench before the snap. I had 4 sacks, 6 tackles for loss on the RB and lived in the backfield that night. Best defensive game I had in a 5 yr "career" by far
