🏈 Hurts, Bateman, Barnett and the QB competition

What if Jalen Hurts is clearly the best QB on the roster in both scrimmages?
I mean to ask, is there any situation in which CNS would start a freshman QB?

It's a fair question considering he was the best QB at ADay, and Aaron Suttles said he was the best QB at the open practice. I mean, it's pretty conceivable that he would continue to be the best

There is more to being the "best" QB than looking good on the field at A day or in Scrimmage. Understanding of the play book, ability to read the defense and check to adjustments, team leadership to name a few things may not show up in a scrimmage or A day setting.

I don't think Nick is caught up in being a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior... he's going to play the best player at each position. IF that is Jalen, it won't matter that he's a Freshman... I think it may only matter if all other things were equal... IE if two players are of equal ability, execution and leadership, he may defer to the upper classman... however, how often does that happen in then QB realm of things?

We need to define "best." If he has the best knowledge of the playbook, consistently makes the right decisions, doesn't turn the ball over, has the greatest physical skills, AND the team follows his leadership, why wouldn't he start? However, I don't think he'll be #1 in all categories.

1st. CNS hasn't revealed that Hurts is the best QB or anyone else for that matter.

2nd. To be a first year starter, you must show that you can take care of the ball. PERIOD.

3rd. Aaron Suttles is a reporter, not a coach, not a coach on staff, nor CNS. So why the hoopla?

4th. There is at thing for web browsing called click bait... you were hooked.

Forget knowledge of the playbook and game. We need the best QB in terms of making plays and protecting the football. Jalen Hurts is a really mature guy with a great attitude according to coaches.
If he makes the most plays without turning the ball over, he should start - simple.
We should start whoever can best move our offense down the field minus turnovers, and yes, that can be viewed in practice and scrimmages.
You all like to overcomplicate things. We'll start the QB who can score the most points for our team while not turning it over. Period.
So far, according to my own, and many other accounts, Hurts looks like the best, with Bateman right up there

Jalen lit up the 1st team defense last night.

He's going to play. You all can make fun of it as much as you want, but this kid isn't going to redshirt. He's not going to start, but he's going to play. Book it.
If he doesn't start, he's not going to play. We all know how that works.
If he's consistently lighting up the 1st-team D, first off, I'm not surprised given how our D is always lit up by a true dual-threat. Second, he should absolutely be given the job.

You can count on one hand how many times our defense has been "lit up" by any offense...

I have known who the starting quarterback been for awhile now. I just wanted to read what a you thought were. So the starting quarterback will be the one who will be behind the center when we play USCw. h/t Sorry I had too! I have enjoy all the input here.
