🏈 Hurt: SEC Power Poll week 2

The Power Poll is a little late this week, in part because the first part of this week was so crammed with activity and in part because of the sugar hangover induced by Double Cupcake Weekend in the SEC last week. That sugary diet of also-rans is also the reason why there wasn't much movement in this week's poll.

Georgia Bulldogs
Record: 1-0 (0-0)
The Bulldogs had an off-week to be prepare for South Carolina, but hold on to the top spot because no one below them did anything to merit a raise.

Texas A&M Aggies
Record: 1-0 (1-0)
In case you wonder whether Kevin Sumlin is earning his healthy salary, remember the Aggies had over 100,000 people on hand to watch them beat up on Lamar. That must be worth something.

Alabama Crimson Tide
Record: 2-0 (0-0)
This should be another week where Nick Saban can get ample playing time to both quarterbacks, and a lot of other players. Which means more for fans to complain about.

Auburn Tigers
Record: 2-0 (1-0)
I see where Auburn has gotten a $99 payment from Harvey Uodyke. Maybe they can use it to fix the elevator at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

LSU Tigers
Record: 2-0 (0-0)
The Tigers attracted more attention for Leonard Fournette's Heisman pose than for anything that they actually accomplished against Sam Houston State. This week, Les Miles will strike an Emmy pose in celebration of his appearance drinking a grass smoothie in an ESPN promo.

11[img alt="" src="https://ct.yimg.com/mr/uploads/885/524110.gif" >Florida Gators
Record: 1-0 (0-0)
The Gators had to wait a week before their debut, but they certainly made the most of it. Remember before the year when some national writers were deriding Alabama's 2014 strength of schedule because they played Florida rather than (lol) Vanderbilt? Those were the same people telling us how a playoff committee would "fix" things, so keep that in mind.

Ole Miss Rebels
Record: 2-0 (1-0)
After roughing up Vanderbilt, the Rebels have a smooth road until they face Alabama next month. An unbeaten Ole Miss hosting Alabama with ESPN Gameday in The Grove? They'll party like it's 1959.

Mississippi State Bulldogs
Record: 2-0 (0-0)
After a tougher than expected outing against UAB, the Bulldogs travel to Mobile (no kidding) for a game against South Alabama. That looks so much like a potential trap game for the Bulldogs that I think it may be a trap to call it a trap.

Missouri Tigers
Record: 2-0 (0-0)
There are two teams that may be undervalued in the poll (Arkansas is the other). UCF is an intriguing non-conference game but Mizzou will have to start beating up on SEC teams before they get more credit. Show Me and all that.

Tennessee Volunteers
Record: 2-0 (0-0)
Not that anyone is into moral victories, but it will be interesting to see if a very young Volunteer team can do a better job of staying close to Oklahoma than it did at Oregon a year ago. No joke here -- kudos to the Vols for stepping up and scheduling games like this one.

10[img alt="" src="https://ct.yimg.com/mr/uploads/885/524118.gif" South Carolina Gamecocks
Record: 1-1 (0-1)
One great thing about South Carolina football in crisis is that no one -- not a disgruntled fan, not a hostile columnist -- sounds more disgusted about the whole thing than Steve Spurrier does. After this week, that might get a lot worse.

12
12[img alt="" src="https://ct.yimg.com/mr/uploads/885/524108.gif" >Arkansas Razorbacks
Record: 1-1 (0-1)
ou have to rank the Razorbacks low because they haven't win an SEC game in a couple of years but I honestly don't think they are that bad and may well beat Texas Tech on Saturday, which would be just another plus for the league.

Kentucky Wildcats
Record: 2-0 (0-0)
Does anyone ever notice that when Bob Stoops bloviates about the SEC being "weak at the bottom," he's talking about his own brother?

Vanderbilt Commodores
Record: 0-2 (0-1)
Someone in Nashville has already registered the domain name FireDerekMason.com. After two games. He or she was probably one those people who invested in Apple when it was still operated of Steve Jobs' garage.
