The bill (IMO) will probably pass or get tucked into a massive stimulus package that’s yet to come. How do you feel about your bluetooth option being turned on and you can’t turn it off? I believe Bluetooth range exceeds 30ft around you. Constantly monitoring your movements and you know it will never go away. Never let a crisis go to waste. Could be a business opportunity to manufacture faraday shields (metal cases) for phones

If that happened I know of a cell phone company that would be losing a long term customer ... and I'd have a cell to sell pretty cheap if anyone were interested.

I said that because during my readings that has been the direction every country is headed. China just locked Wuhan back down and ordered testing for all 11 million residents. This country is rapidly approaching a form of national socialism and the toss up election is just the speed control. Should we be nearing the end of the Fourth Turning it could get ugly.

Every cell phone has a unique ID (besides the phone #). Companies currently use this ID to track consumers for marketing and site location studies (where did you come from when you visited Chick-Fil-A (home or work)? Where did you go after?). Some of the GIS (geographic information systems) companies are now developing applications that can identify who you came in contact with (spatial analytics of who came within X feet of you) to allow for notification of exposure. These studies can be done retroactively. The key will be identifying which unique ID belongs to who?

External tracking is actually pretty easy to do using various techniques. Bluetooth is not as useful as people would think outside of Google/Apple/Samsung collecting on their phones (shorter range and not always presenting identifying info if not in pairing mode), but your WiFi and Cell Signal are. Even MAC Randomization is flawed and can be exposed through RTS attacks (assuming you even have it turned on). WiFi tracking and triangulation is very cheap, cell only marginally more expensive. Companies can do it all day long on-premises and then turn their data over to the government since it is not directly identifiable to a person but only to a device (government also does it with cell signals). That information combined becomes much easier to identify a person.

Just so everyone is aware, Congress is reauthorizing the Patriot Act with very few changes. They are "strengthening" oversight (not really, but they say they are) but refusing to require warrants for the government to get your data.
