We talk about the cyclical nature of college football, a lot. Here's an example, a rather quick one, of how it runs.
It's funny to me remembering how people talked about the Tide's fan base and the 90K+ who showed up for Saban's first A-day game. Fans from other schools and conferences chose to make fun of the fan support UNTIL, suddenly, they were showing up in numbers that exceeded some schools attendance during an actual fall football game.
And now, we're sitting here listening, reading, and watching people try to draw a conclusion on the fans attitudes because it was the lowest attendance in the Saban era (yet reported largest this spring?)
Far be it from me to expect rational thought from college football fans, but I can dream a little, right?
The way dates fell on the calendar this year just didn't line up. And the thing is, I don't believe you can point to one decision maker for blame.
The day before Easter comes into play. Saban wanting spring break to fall where it does during spring camp comes in as well. But, when spring break comes isn't his decision, it's on the academic side.
Bottom line...folks, we're truly in the off-season. There's only a little baseball and softball left; soak it up while you can.
