I got an idea... Don't encourage so many kids to quit. Sure there are some legitimate reasons (coaching changes, graduate enrollee), but it's all too easy these days.

One fix for a lot of this temporary pain is to increase the 85 limit due to the extra years granted from last year. Then maybe change some of that signing limit garbage.

Just because they're in the portal doesn't mean they'll leave. The portal gives any player the opportunity to see if they're wanted elsewhere. Officially they haven't quit their existing team (although there may be some uncomfortable moments if they come back). The best way to approach it is to have a talk with the HC, explain their situation, and get the HC support.
