I'll admit upfront I didn't read the article, and it ain't happing with Bryce (lie OldPlayer said)... but just as NIL cash bags are used as fishing lures to get players to sign/transfer, they will also be used in some cases to get draft eligible players to stick around an extra season. For some of them, it will be very beneficial, financially and professionally, to do so. For others, not so much.

( didn’t read article either)
It will. There are some who have a personal goal greaterthan financial ..
Like a BY...but ...thanks for great seasons....andwe shallsee

I don't see why he'd take 8m for 1 more year here and risk injury and losing draft stock/money when he can go pro and get a contract that's 4 years minimum with a ton more money involved. They also can't withhold any of that money without some major character issues or something...he'd be stupid to pass up all that money for us 8-10m for 1 year.

I entertained this with a fellow fan about a week ago. No amount of miney could make him stay, but it was just a fun conversation. I said, pay the man $8M to stay one more year.

Just for reference sake, he made in the neighborhood of $5 million this year (more than a couple of SEC head coaches).

That is crazy, The game I grew up loving is definetly a thing of the past.

To me no reason to come back but @bamafan9201 he could take out the insurance policy to protect against injury. The possible loss in earnings due to a subpar year would be another thing. Not sure there is a path to protect against that other than well perform at a high level as I would expect him to do. As I said I do not see him coming back but just exploring how he could overcome the possible financial loss of doing so.

But he doesnt have the ring he wants.....HE EARNED
Got one for being on team in 2020....
But .....

IF BY stayed for another season, I would be shocked. Why would he? It doesn't make any sense to me. I do think he has hurt his draft stock a little this year with his injury and not having the stats he had last year. He is still going to be a wealthy young man.

I believe it. Like I said, it was just a funny/fun conversation to have. We shook our heads the entire time considering where we were just a few years ago and I still dislike NIL very much, but it was still funny to talk about.

I hate it. I think there was a pretty easy and fair way to help the players financially, but keep it as the traditional college model. Josh Pate sort of laid it out there this week too. Instead, they blew the damn and flooded the sport. Most of the blame is on the NCAA for kicking the ball down the road and avoiding the issue for years. It's a shame they didn't see it was inevitable, put some smart (3rd party) people on it, and come up with a fair and sustainable model.

I agree.

Sorry to ask this and bring you into that conversation, but it's been talked about on here and I firmly believe NIL is causing our program to work towards its current state. I think the focus that was once on the game and the hunger provided by making it to the NFL and making money has now taken focus off the game and the money right in front of their faces. Instead of working out, watching film, voluntarily practicing, and working harder in school I feel that time is being split with signings, commercials, social media, and any other NIL involvement these guys can find. Do you think NIL has done anything to cause our little dip in production at all?

I agree somewhat
BUt I still think the coaching is the problem more than anything else

It's a valid question/concern. I honestly don't think it has had much of an impact, if at all, up to this point in terms of on the field play. Where it has impacted obviously, is recruiting, where it has caused Bama to lose out on some targets (also in the portal with a player or two). Missing out on players Bama would ordinarily get does have an impact on the overall play obviously. As far as the NIL with the team, it's just another thing to be managed and Saban does a good job with it overall. A good bit if these NIL deals are for very little work, so they don't take that much time. Sometimes it's nothing more than firing off a couple of tweets/Instagram posts a week. I firmly believe the issues on the field are more a result of some leadership voids, lackluster coaching at some spots, some bad evaluations ,and a stronger overall SEC (with better conference wide coaching) than we've seen in a long time. Again though, the NIL has absolutely hurt Alabama in terms of their recruiting a little bit.

BY would have to be an idiot to stay for another year!! He isn't one, so the guy that took the time to type up this article is an even BIGGER idiot for entertaining the thought. You would have to dangle #1 overall draft pick money (1 year only/ around $8-10 million) to even get a reaction. No reason to risk a year in college when that guaranteed contract awaits.

Makes like $1,000,000 off of NIL

-Make 5 million dollars per year off an NIL; enough to retire comfortably in case you get seriously hurt (that is unless you are not a complete dumbf*ck)
-Still goes pro to make $32 million dollars per year, so you can afford to wipe your ass with gold bars and upgrade your Lear 25 private jet to a Gulfstream X.

That really says something about how rotten American society is right now. Shit I would be content with a job that pays $65,000 per year in this wreck of an economy lol.
