🏈 How much of a springboard can be found in Red Stick?

I know this is putting the horse way before the cart, but noting that a marginal lead at the end of the game in Auburn propelled the Barn over some teams in the polls, what would a two score lead/win for BAMA in Baton Rouge do for BAMA?

We do have that "-1" after our win total, but what voter does not respected a road win in Death Valley?

Allegedly, margin of victory plays no part in the computer rankings in used in the BCS standings. A wide margin of victory could, however influence a human voter in one of the polls. Personally, I don't think it matters that much. Beating a top ten team > beating UCLA > beating Air Force > beating San Jose State.

If the win was lopsided enough, it gets national attention if for no other reason than people wanting a change in Baton Rouge (OC, HC, etc). That noise will get us back in the spotlight again.

I have to say, I've enjoyed Bama flying under the radar again for a while. We were in the limelight for 2.5 years, dating back to the start of the 08 season, had a wonderful year, ended in the limelight with the loss out of nowhere to Utah (I know, they were a totally better opponent on that night). Then 2009....Then the start of the 2010 season and all that bandwagon.

I live near Bham, AL, and the number of Bama flags on cars has dropped precipitously since the USC loss. The number of Agbarn flags, on the other hand....

I think that several games this weekend will be the springboard before we ever get to Red Stick. The way I see it, Missouri and Michigan State will lose this weekend and possibly Oregon and we will bump up a couple of spots without even playing. Win out and we're headed to Glendale.

MOV only matters in the human polls and they already love us. All we have to do is win because the computers love LSU and our computer score is what's holding us back. Basically, win out and hope 2 of Oregon, MSU, and Mizzou lose. I also think the fact that we're defending champs will help us if other big name programs have 1 loss as well.

We must win out, obviously, but we also need any two of Oregon, MSU, and Mizzou to lose.

IMO if MSU beats Iowa they will win out and be in Glendale.

Mizzou could still lose even if they beat Nebraska. IMO they lose a rematch with OU on a neutral field, which would avenge OU's loss making them an attractive team. I don't think OU would have more juice than us beating LSU (who is loved by the computers), MState (a BCS top 20 team), #1 AU and a ranked SEC East team (especially if that team is USCe).

Oregon has a interesting close to the season. They could be tested by each opponent or they could win convincingly. It depends on which team shows up because each upcoming opponent has had flashes of great play and then looked like a HS team. AZ has a real shot if they play their A game.

I don't think we would jump any of these three that go undefeated. I think MSU loses to Iowa and Mizzou loses to N. Oregon could lose, but I wouldn't count on it. Boise is about to start falling from lack of a schedule, especially since they had to run up the score last night to make it look like a domination. After watching the Tuesday night tilt IMO BSU is 15 - 20 caliber team, certainly not elite. They are ranked #3 because of the last 5 years, not solely on this year.

After the fallout from this weekend, Bama will jump to #5 in the BCS. A win over LSU may jump you guys over TCU, I don't think it would get you into the top three. I'd be shocked if Boise loses the #3 slot without losing. They're the media, voter darlings this year.
