So a co-worker who is a USF Alum/ UF fan who boasts about his South Florida Bulls and sometimes his graduate school Gators asked me yesterday how it feels to be on top. I said it feels good so I'll enjoy it while it lasts because I remember those dark days.

But just how dark were they I thought? So I did some number crunching last night. Now keep in mind this is getting rid of any NCAA rulings on games won on the field. I was at the 2005 Florida game and I know for a fact the Tide manhandled that # 5 Gator team. I also counted the FSU game as a loss in 2007, because the Tide sure as heck lost it.

My first look is at Coach Stallings as a base since some have said he was the closest to Coach Bryant Bama has or will see.

Coach Stallings
In seven season:
45-12-1 in the SEC
25-3 OOC
1-3 in the SECCG
4-1 in bowl games
1 SEC Championship
1 National Championship

Against the big three rivals:
5-2 Auburn
6-1 LSU
4-2-1 Tennessee

Those other guys:
In ten Seasons the Dubose/Franchione/Shula trust-
40-41 in the SEC
27-14 OOC
1-0 in the SECCG
2-2 in bowl games
1 SEC Championship

Against the big three rivals:
3-7 Auburn
3-7 LSU
2-8 Tennessee

Coach Saban:
In his first three seasons CNS:
21-5 in the SEC
12-3 OOC
1-1 in the SECCG
2-1 in bowl games
1 SEC Championship
1 National Championship

Against the big three rivals:
2-1 Auburn
2-1 LSU
3-0 Tennessee

Yeah, it does feel nice. No wonder that trip to Pasadena felt like years of weight lifted off my shoulders. No wonder why Rammer Jammer after a win over SEC or any opponent feels right. Its amazing how much I had blocked out from those days. I remember going to games and leaving dissapointed. A few high points in '99, '02, and '05 allowed us fans to celebrate.

Sorry for the long post, but it was on my mind today.

Roll Tide!

I was at the South Carolina game in 2004. I think it was 20-3? Terrible game. Went through Guillon and Pennington that day, and Keith Brown was injured in the endzone. Just a terrible, terrible game. The worst one I've ever witnessed.

It was bad. I remember I happened to be in NYC that day and watched the game at the ESPN Zone on 42nd street in Times Square. Talk about drowning your sorrows! I kept on drowning them 'til about 5am the next morning. Was that only 6 years ago? Man, I don't think my tired old body would take that kind of abuse today...Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) I don't think any such medication will be required during or after today's game. Maybe I'll go for a jog this morning instead...
