📽 /🎵 Horizon: An American Saga... Could this maybe approach Lonesome Dove in some ways?

Lonesome Dove was a great book first, I'm not getting my hopes up on Horizon. The trailer does look good, though.

...in theatres just a few weeks apart. While the trailer looks good, I am not sure it's good enough to me to hit one of the local theatres to watch.

Finally sat down and watched Chapter 1 tonight... It's like putting together a 5000 piece puzzle, lot of jumping around and piecing parts together. Overall, I give it a solid B (compared to the stuff we normally see put out there these days). Some spots and a couple of characters could have been better, but so far it's working. Hopefully, Chapter 2 and beyond gets better, not worse.

I watched the first one on a flight, half of it heading to St. Louis, other half coming back. It's good, it does jump around, and the last several minutes of it recap the movie and prequels the next installment.

There's been some back and forth on when Part 2 will land... It was already supposed to be out, but it got pulled and delayed, supposedly based on low numbers in theaters for Part 1. But, the streaming numbers have been good on Part 1, so I think (from what I can tell) they are trying to figure out what to do with Part 2 to get the most money back... then parts 3 and 4 are supposedly in line as well.

I'm glad you bumped this back up. Considering I'm "laid up" or several weeks it appears...needed something like this to "binge" through today. (Three hours, started at noon and just finished at several minutes past five.)

Some of the characters are natural fits. Guys like Michael Rooker and Will Patton are just born to play those supporting roles in westerns. NOW, Luke Wilson?!?! Naturally he has that slow drawl; almost sounding "slow." It's a match.

It's no secret I'm a big fan of cinematography in film. For this, if we're being honest, a good 12-18 minutes could have been left on the cutting room floor.

I can see why it has taken KC so long to get this from the page to the screen. Hell, he's still looking for a plot line, a protagonist ...

Figured I'd wait on the second part and watch them both if it sounds like it finally gets towards a point or maybe wait on them all. I forget shows from 1 year to the next, rather binge watch it in a few weeks than over years.

That was my original plan and would have been easy to do if they'd stuck with the original release schedule... I'll more than likely go back and watch part 1 in full again though unless part 2 releases very soon (which seems unlikely).

What's worse? Knowing you've watched a season of a show and can't remember the storyline or not remembering you've watched something until you start seeing the storyline.

...same thing with me and books. I'll pick up something and start reading and realize a few chapters in that "I know this story."

This kinda happened with me last night... I watched Hell or High Water. I'd watched it once, previously in 2017-18 I think. I could barely remember what happened until it got going a bit... even still, I couldn't remember the exact details.

Sheridan has caught me a few times in situations like this. Recently, recognizing an actor in one of his series and trying to remember if I "just don't like him" or was it "he's the bad guy."

Ha... one part last night that I had totally forgotten about was him playing his little cowboy role and driving cattle away from a fire... had nothing to do with anything, just an opportunity to be in front of the camera for a minute, on a horse, and playing the "cool" cowboy.
