🏈 Homecoming (Ole Miss) Game Thread

Glad we won, but im stearting to really worry about our team. It is seeming mediocre, and it has other teams falliiing to the pressure of a big gsme. Doesnt feel like we are winning outright anymore.

Our offense scares me more than our secondary should.

Well as the old saying goes...a win is a win or an ugly win is better then a pretty loss, take your pick. I certainly hope our offense gets some rhythm going into Vile country. If not, a game that we all laughed about earlier this season will be anything but funny.

Here's to our offense finding itself this week. :a:

I can point to three games last year where we had this same kind of win.

All I'm going to say is be patient people. Things that need fixing will be fixed.

We have obvious problems on offense. Defense played very good tonight, but lost intensity in the second half. Offense is just flat. No running game. The offensive line has given up 14 sacks in the last 2 games. More than half of the 14 sacks were coverage sacks, which means the receivers aren't getting open or GMac is hesitating to throw the ball. It has already been stated, but I'm ready to get by UT and hit the bye week. We have a lot of problems on offense to work out. Specifically, we are becoming too predictable.

@ColoradoTide I watched a team today that didnt jump around like a bunch of clowns like they usually do
when they made an average play come out with the same determination BAMA had last year
and beat ARKY with pure guts n glory that im very, very concerned about playing this year.
You call that defensive performance guts and glory? I watched the same game and they looked like a one man team to me.

OMG, really? I notice your hometown "nickname". That was created by truck drivers in the 70's for CB radios and that's a fact. Don't look any further than yourself for something "racial" on this board. Some of you people.........

Well then it's settled. I misunderstood what Argo was writting about. So my bad there.

As for "Monkeytown"....you have the right decade....just your source is wrong.
the nickname for Montgomery (Monkeytown) was 1st coined by the Pro Wrestler Burrhead Jones (Melvin Nelson).
While Originally from Moncks Corner, SC. In the ring Burrhead was famouse for his signiture "headbutt" & halied from.........wait for it......
MONKEYTOWN, ALABAMA. @ a time when there was still wise spread segrigation throught the country, Burhead was doing things other African American couldn't.
As a kid Burhead was a sat afternoon hero of mine. Who i met on several occations being that my dad was drinking buddies with Jimmy Golden & Ron Fuller AKA the Tennesee Stud.
Burhead wad a nice guy and when ever he saw me he'd tap his knuckles on top of my head & give me 5.00 for candy. i was 7 or 8 @ the time.

As for the CB thing, I dorove trucks in and around Alabama for the last 8 years up untill this year. And was on the CB every day.
And yeah it's still commonly called that on the cb bu local & regional drivers. You get out side the SE US & it's seldom heard.
Hope this clears that up for yas.
