⚾ 🥎 High praise for Halie Mac.

Re: the field... It looks sorta ridiculous (both on the surface and in real life), but baseball/softball in the Olympics comes as a package deal and when both were reinstated for the 2020 games, that was the deal that came with it. But those softball players have been playing (at times) on modified baseball fields like that throughout their entire careers... certainly nothing new to them.

I believe it's a little more than that according to what I understand but it still doesn't change the fact it's bad TV from an optics standpoint.

They (Japan) have the largest professional softball organization in the word from what I understand and they could have done better. I also understand these are the field conditions they play on all the time.

It just seems to me if the Olympic committees can build a soccer stadium in the middle of nowwhere, South America, they could have built a softball only complex in Japan.

From what I've seen, they spent all their money on the Kayak events. That course is unreal.

A softball only stadium would have certainly been better from an optics standpoint. I would assume that if Japan wanted one badly enough, that they could have built one (unless the IOC had to approve it?). Seems it would have made sense to play baseball at an already built Tokyo stadium and built a softball stadium elsewhere. But, could well be that Japan was only interested in building a baseball stadium (for future use), the money excuse is legit, and since the schedules don't overlap, only 1 stadium was what they wanted. I also think there are people on the IOC who are not happy that baseball and softball are back (for this year), and have no interest in giving them attention or resources.
