🏈 Hey, you NFL draft fans...anyone know how longs it's been since the Heisman trophy winner wasn't...

...invited to the draft?

Reed, Ragland, and Robinson have received their invitations but Derrick didn't. Now, makes sense if he's not going to be picked up on day one.

It has made me wonder how often this happens. I can't recall if Mark received an invitation.

(Strikes me odd that Cardale Jones gets an invitation. Personally, I don't see him as a better running back than Henry or vice-versa ... but it does make me curious what they see in Jones that they don't in Henry. In my opinion, it's all about production.)

1. Whoever takes him in the 2nd round is going to get the deal of the draft (relative to the lesser amount of money in the contract).

2. How these gurus (the same collective group who lauded Johnny Football and Sam Bradford as easy first round picks) think Ezekiel Elliott is a better RB than Derrick Henry is beyond me.

I'm assuming you mean Ezekiel Elliot...

Henry has lots of negative plays over the last 2 years on tape... Not usually DH's fault, but he's not a guy that can side step dudes in the backfield when the play isn't blocked well. When he's not up to speed he's too big to change directions quickly.

NFL D Lineman are so explosive that rarely do OL's dominate like Alabama does against _________ in college. Maybe NFL GM's have a concern that DH has too much "negative play potential". That would be my main concern... JMO

Yeah, I see that as a legit concern. The problem I have with the "experts", that is not why they claim EE is ahead of DH. They claim that EE is a better pass catcher, which was proven false at the combine, yet they ignored that. Each of them had like 10 throws made to them, DH caught every pass in stride, EE dropped two and juggled two more.

Hope Chris Jones doesn't fall coming out of his suit when his name is called. How did they arrive at this list out of curiosity? I see multiple that aren't first round guys, and I always thought those were the guys they were after, high first rounders at that.

If I had to guess, they offer those who the think are top selections, some of those guys opt to stay home. They really have no idea who's going to be drafted when, they have a pretty good idea. The past has shown that guys who get invited do slip into deeper rounds. I think they invite based on "the show" and I would imagine draftees and their families want to visit a big city. It's in Chicago this year (I don't like that they moved it out of NYC).

1st round - Thursday 4/30 @ 7 pm CST
2nd-3rd rounds - Friday 5/1 @ 6pm CST

Since there are 25 names on the list, and 31 draft slots in the first round (NE lost theirs), there will be some first rounders that aren't there to get the handshake and slap on the back. Cardale Jones isn't on the list of invitees.
