šŸˆ Hey Auburn, You're Our Last Chance!

I'd have to look to back this first thought up. The only thing we can compare to this run with Bama versus how other teams are treated is USC under Carroll. How many articles did we see about USC in an "anti-Trojan" vein? I don't know if it was a fairly even mixture—one article wishing well to the teams facing USC versus the numbers covering the success they were having.

That said, what USC was doing back in 2003-'05 didn't reach this level with one BCS and two AP's.

Second thought:

If we were to count would we find as many articles and commentaries talking about how good this run is under Saban versus those who fall into the category of the open letter to Malzahn?

I look over the news feeds and twitter postings a few times a day and can say I've not posted (or moved to this discussion forum) probably 100 or so over this season. It's become monotonous to continually read about things we already know.

It's my supposition that fans are a lot more inclined to link or comment on negative articles.
You have more patience than I do in taking a scholarly approach to this topic. I've seen too much in my 50+ years of watching Alabama football to consider the possibility of anything other than anti-Alabama bias.

I agree, I really believe that everybody outside of Alabama fans, is growing tired of us winning. The fans of other teams or sports writers either want us disposed of by either slander, we cheat, or someone to beat us on the field. People in the SEC are even now wanting us to get beat cause they are tired of us whipping them too. After Every game we play, the opposing fans are posting things like.. "I hope Bama gets beat down in the NC game", basically conceding the fact that we are already in the title game, or "Bama has to be cheating cause they field a NFL caliber team and cant wait till there is a playoff system cause it will even the playing field". There is no doubt people are sick of us.

You've got a decade on me.

I enjoyed Saban's comment the other day about how mediocre people don't like to be around success. It's its own unique way I think that fits.

One of the best lines I've seen this year was one from Baton Rouge suggesting we compensate players after their collegiate careers for staying their senior year—his case in point was CJ.

I walked away from that one.

It might make people stay, but I doubt it. I would of walked to, the CJs of the world are few but they are there on every team with a good solid football Tradition. That would be a discussion that would be interesting and lengthy for many reasons and then throw in a devils advocate like yourself?

I only had one thought when I heard the statement. A bit of a long one, but still one thought.

If you think about the interior linebackers and the scheme we use the prototypical guy has to be able to defend the run and pass equally as well. After his Jr. year CJ wasn't that player. There's a reason he didn't start in 35-40% of our games last year. It's the same reason Nico didn't start all the games last year as well.

As to the comment I was tempted to make...why would a guy leave his team a year early when he isn't even ready to start all his games in collegiate football?
