The Tigers May Be the Only Thing Standing Between Alabama and Three Straight National Titles

Besides their typical greatness, the Tide even added a splash of panache, running the ball on a fake punt with the game tied, then scoring 21 unanswered points. This is like a stodgy-but-brilliant CEO belting out Sinatra at a company dinner and winning a record deal. It just isn't fair.

Your Tigers host Alabama on Nov. 30, and could be the only thing standing between the Crimson Tide and yet another appearance in the national title game—which, I think we can agree, is getting a bit tedious. That's why you need to prevent it from happening. You need to take back the state of Alabama

????

WE almost lost to A&M? Do they not remember their game against them? And they talk about how they stomped Tenn? Lol. Atleast the viles didn' put more than 10 on us. Lol. And i don't think we're as bad as they think against no huddle offenses. Hell, if our guys shut down the run from Mason and contain Marshal, we got it licked.

It's so great to hear the talking heads go from week to week about who has the best chance of beating us. Oregon definitley will. aTm will...nope. Ole Miss can...nope. Oh, Oregon...nope. FSU will though. LSU can...nope. The barn will...

i think this, so far, is one of the best years to woodshed spank the barnsmen. their fans are delusional and so excited about the team. it could be a greater letdown for them than any of the beatings in recent years. especially if they get out in front a little on some trick play crap and then receive a slow, methodical processing.

they are effectively a one-dimensional offense. they have an average running game and one receiver that will pose a threat. i think Bama can load up to stop the run and make Marshall try to win it. i have no doubt that they will fail.

Auburn can only win this game with an epic Bama meltdown.

Bring up the A&M game all you want, but Bama's defense is on a completely different level now. Every team we play has scored less than half their average points per game.

Taking just the averages, Bama has held their opponents to 18.7 points less than their average and has only allowed one opponent to get within 10 points of their average (A&M). On the scoring side, Bama has averaged 12.2 points more per game than their opponents allowed on average, and has only scored less than the opponent usually allowed 1 time (Ole Miss 25 vs the average of 25.6).

Auburn, on the other hand, has held their opponents to 9 points less than their average and has only held 3 opponents to more than 10 points off their average. On the scoring side, Auburn has averaged 9.1 points more per game than their opponents allowed on average, and has scored less than the opponent average allowed 3 times.

Note that our opponents are very well matched, Bama's opponents averaged allowing 28.6 and Auburn's 29.5 while they averaged scoring 29.2 and 29.4 respectively. Stats don't mean a lot, but they do indicate that Bama is on a different level than Auburn versus their opponents averages.

Isnt she the same hack who wrote all those stories about how Saban "discarded" players by abusing the medical scholly system?

Keep drinking that haterade......

I recall her writing an article around the Michigan game in Dallas that touched on recruiting—the Saban rule and the 25 signee cap. But, I don't recall it being negative and I don't recall any mention of medicals.

Yeah now that I think about it, that was a New York Times article that slammed Saban over the medical schollys right?

This woman's name is familiar to me for some reason and I can't shake the feeling there is something negative associated with it....

a googling I go...

I don't know if it was the NYT. There's been a few papers try to create a story revolving around those medicals but I've yet to see one that compares teams to Bama.

I think this is the story Im remembering

same paper but different writers.

Looking back at Bachman's articles, I think it was her whining about the 2011 Bama vs LSU regular season and rematch games that made me dislike her.

Why is there a "cultural understanding" that it is ok for individuals not directly impacted by Alabama's football success to lobby so fervently in a public forum for the failure of the team? If Michigan, or Notre Dame, or USCw (or any number of other media darling schools that I could name) were in the hunt for a third consecutive national title, the sports journalists would celebrate every milestone in the journey as a prelude to some college football Shangri-La. But, because Alabama is the program in question,we are all supposed to acquiesce knowingly in various uncharitable conversations that treat Alabama’s football success as some unqualified scourge analogous to the encroachment of killer bees in to North America.

I'd have to look to back this first thought up. The only thing we can compare to this run with Bama versus how other teams are treated is USC under Carroll. How many articles did we see about USC in an "anti-Trojan" vein? I don't know if it was a fairly even mixture—one article wishing well to the teams facing USC versus the numbers covering the success they were having.

That said, what USC was doing back in 2003-'05 didn't reach this level with one BCS and two AP's.

Second thought:

If we were to count would we find as many articles and commentaries talking about how good this run is under Saban versus those who fall into the category of the open letter to Malzahn?

I look over the news feeds and twitter postings a few times a day and can say I've not posted (or moved to this discussion forum) probably 100 or so over this season. It's become monotonous to continually read about things we already know.

It's my supposition that fans are a lot more inclined to link or comment on negative articles.
