An interesting post by Gil Brandt on Twitter. It's a ranking of teams and who has had the most selected in the first round since the common draft started in 1967.
Where do you think Bama comes in? Top ten? Top twenty? What's your guess?
Amari Cooper will be a 1st rounder next year, Yeldon has potential to be, Collins could be with a stand out year, and depending on how Jacob Coker develops, he could be a first rounder.
Just because those teams didn't garner a lot of national attention (as in rankings) doesn't mean they weren't having kids drafted.
I assume one of those teams you're talking about is Florida. Between 1967 and 1979 UF had around 50 players drafted. About 20% of them were first round and those guys represent roughly 25% of their total.
The talent has always been in Florida. Why else did Coach Bryant comment about the schools in that state being sleeping giants? It just took the right coach.
FSU's numbers are just, impressive. Their first, first rounder was in 1969.
