The big issue here is the death connected to the DUI wreck. I really hope things work out for this young man.

"The Clark County District Court judge that would resolve the issue, however, has recused himself because, as the judge put it, he talked about the Henry Ruggs case during the judge’s 2022 reelection campaign."
That's one way a judge disqualifies him/herself for a trial. Which is smart because it would be open grounds for a mistrial. Since that element has been ruled out, Ruggs will have to face the reality of trial. Honestly, I don't see how any good attorney would allow it to get that far unless the DA's office is out for blood. We'll see. It will be hard for the DA's office to not offer reduced sentencing with a confession.

I expect the family will sue him into bankruptcy no matter what happens at the trial. Dude threw his life away.
