A gofundme page was started by former Alabama CB John Fulton to help Altee Tenpenny's family with the funeral- see link above. From the page:

"Altee Tenpenny passed away October 21st. We are raising money to help with the funeral service. We all knew Altee as someone with the biggest smile and would do absolutely anything for anyone. Now is our time to do something for him and his loved ones #LongLive28"

If you are able, please consider helping them. Roll Tide.

Most of the time when a young person passes away, they have no insurance and almost all do not have any type of arrangements to cover funeral costs. I know when my brother was killed in a car accident in 96, that my parents had to pay funeral costs, even though he had a good job but no plans for burial. I was suprised when my brother in law, who owns a funeral home, told me that many senior adults do not have any type of funeral prepay plans, burial plots or prior arrangements. Sad situation for all involved.

IMO, this is a good and just cause to help.

It's fascinating if you go through the names of the donors. Lots of Bama players and alums. Eddie Jackson was one of the first to donate.

Last night when I posted this, $400 had been raised. Now, it's over $7,000. I have goosebumps thinking how amazing that is and how many people have rallied for his family.

You right, The different goes up on a yearly basis. Tell your brother in law I know some too, My wife and I are two of these. We had, but lose it a couple of years ago. My wife took out some on our grandkids a while back is the only one we have right now. But right now we have saving put away to put us away and I have VA that with cover some of the cost.

Former Alabama players John Fulton and Altee Tenpenny played together in Tuscaloosa during the 2013 season.

When Tenpenny died in a one-car accident on Tuesday, Fulton decided to skip the Twitter memorials and took direct action. The South Carolina native launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $15,000 for Tenpenny’s funeral.

“We all knew Altee as a guy that would do anything for anybody,” Fulton tweeted. “Well now is our chance to give back to his family.”

As of Thursday morning, more than $8,400 had been raised, with donations coming more and more frequently.

Several fans left messages for Tenpenny. Here’s a sampling:

  • I’m 13 yrs old and he was a role model to me he might not have started but he was a great player I’m doing the best I can to get money RIP #LongLive28
