🏈 Heisman discussion?

In case anyone wants to discuss who they want to win/who they think should win :)

My bet is Te'o winning, but I want Manziel to win.

I am surprised the vote got split between just 3. No Lee or Miller, or long-shot Ball; Ball started off pretty slow but came to have a great last few weeks.

It's weird how just a few weeks ago, Geno Smith was considered the top contender for a long time. Even AJ entered the conversation after the LSU game.

stiffarmtrophy - Manziel in a landslide.

Klein should win it, but Manziel will probably win because of all the hype he's getting. If I was voting my ballot would be Klein, Te'o, and Manziel

Interesting. Why do you put Klein ahead of both Te'o and Manziel? I really like Klein, but he just seems like a Tebow clone to me haha (not that that is a bad thing, when remarking on his talents and personality). He also never really had his "Heisman" moment, which I think lends itself well to Manziel's campaign.

EDIT: I forgot about the win over #6 OU.

EDIT #2: I also forgot about the win over Texas .. yikes. Sorry Klein. Dude definitely gets lost in the mix, unfortunately.

From ESPN:

"Klein completed 180-of-272 passes (66.2 percent) of his passes for 2,485 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions for Kansas State, who went 11-1 this year and won the Big 12 for the first time since 2003. That sent the Wildcats to the Fiesta Bowl, where they'll face Oregon.

Klein rushed for 895 yards on 194 carries (4.61 average) and 22 touchdowns. His 22 rushing scores are tied for second-most nationally and Klein's passer rating of 156.28 is good for 16th nationally.

Klein is the Big 12's second consecutive Heisman finalist. Baylor's Robert Griffin III won the award last season."

Also, how awesome is the Fiesta Bowl gonna be?

The reason I believe you're wrong here—the landslide comment—is your older Heisman voters aren't going to vote for a frosh.

The mere fact we have a Notre Dame player in the mix is going to pull some votes as well. I have no issue with that.

I don't know who wins this. I suspect Manziel will, but honestly?

I don't care.

Don't really care since we don't have a dog in the hunt. This could be a tighter race than people think and maybe closest ever. Like Terry said, the older voters won't vote for Manziel and could even leave him off the ballot because of his class rank. Te'o will take most of the midwest vote IMO. I don't think he should win it, but he has been the media darling this year with ND stepping back into the limelight and with his dealing with personal tragedy.

The Heisman trophy has not been about the greatest college football player in quite some time. We all know it is a popularity contest almost every single season. I lost all faith in the Heisman the year that Charles Woodson won it over Peyton Manning. As for this season, I can't imagine the AARP voters will give it to a Freshman but I would like to see him get it just because he is in the SEC.

You're right, but now would be a good time to go back and choose the winner based on the NYCAC's mission statement. That would benefit Manti Teo.

Stiifarm does have it as a runaway, but the USA Today poll shows it's close.

^^^^^^^^

I would not put any money on a winner at all, it is too unpredictable and without a sure fire standout to call it. To me, it is hard to give it to a defensive player but I would never have thought Woodson would have gotten it in '98 or '97, I don't recall which year it was.

I think it will be close in the voting and I'm not sure who will win. Earlier, they had predicted Manziel by a long shot, but recent reports are showing it to be very close between him and Teo. Woodson got the nod over Manning because he also played special teams and scored 2 or 3 TD's on returns and also played some offense. He had 11 catches and 3 or 4 runs that season. Don't recall if he scored any TD's on offense. Living in Indy I knew Peyton was coming to the Colts and I was hoping he would have won the Heisman.
