I think of all the times that we have suffered though "GAME OF THE CENTURY!!!" build ups and am frankly puzzled as to why this one has not also been painted as such. There is a very solid argument for this. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
  • One team enters with a Quarterback who has NEVER lost a game (28-0), and he would all but universally be considered the least successful of the signal callers on the field.<o:p></o:p>
  • One team boast weeks of having the Heisman front runner, yet he does not have the best Heisman pedigree.<o:p></o:p>
  • With the exception of Special Teams play, the Defense that is arguably the best in the country will always be on the field...regardless of who has the ball.<o:p></o:p>
  • A half season worth of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:stockticker>BCS</st1:stockticker> polls say that their own <st1:stockticker>BCS</st1:stockticker> system is broken, in that it can not pair its own #1 and #2 in its own #1 vs. #2 game...because THIS is the real battle of the best, according to them. <o:p></o:p>
  • Presuming a win today by <st1:stockticker><st1:State><st1:place>FLA</st1:place></st1:State></st1:stockticker> over FSU, these two teams are 47-1 in the regular season over the last two years. Context: Until this Bama team this year, ZERO <st1:stockticker>SEC</st1:stockticker> programs have put together back-to-back undefeated season in the last 35 year. (Heck, even Coach Bryant failed 10 times.) And yet, this game features a card that is one close game against Ole Miss from have two that have done it.<o:p></o:p>
  • College Football- 3 : Nick and Urban- 3 -- One would have to go back to 1995 and include every Non-<st1:stockticker>SEC</st1:stockticker> "D-1" team in <st1:country-region><st1:place>America</st1:place></st1:country-region> to find a conference that boasts as many National Championship rings as sported by the coaches in this game...and that is if you allow the Big 12 to claim <st1:State><st1:place>Nebraska</st1:place></st1:State>'s Big 8 years. (BTW, the <st1:stockticker>SEC</st1:stockticker> itself beats out all of college football in this sense, with <st1:stockticker><st1:State><st1:place>FLA</st1:place></st1:State></st1:stockticker>, LSU, and <st1:State><st1:place>TENN</st1:place></st1:State> all winning NCs since the Big 8/12 last won 3.)
  • <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
The winner of this game will be the clear favorite to be this year's Unanimous National Champion...making it 4 years in a row for this super conference...a feat never even approached before in college football.<o:p></o:p>

Thanks for the comments, LBS. As a barner friend once said, "Some good cud to chew on."
