I saw this on Facebook, where it is being reported that Miss Terry was seen in Austin, TX "house shopping" a couple of weeks ago. Excuse me for not linking it, but I'm on an IPad and I have no clue as to cutting and pasting yet. Supposedly, Miss Terry said they were looking for a vacation home but everyone is jumping on the Saban to Texas bandwagon. I'm calling :bsflag:on this rumor because of the timing. It sort of reminds me of the Saban to the Browns rumor last season right before the Vile game. Anyone else seen this?

This one is well done.

I'll go look for the article when I get to my other computer but there's a few links to grab over on the twitter feeds on the Today's News page here.

One bit I got a kick of is the use of "confirmed on ESPN radio." When you read on you see it's an afternoon sports talk show in Austin with hosts saying they've confirmed this and that.

From Burnt Orange Nation .. ah, wishful thinking.

It appears that the "Nick Saban to Texas" rumor is both legitimate and gaining traction. As first reported by Inside Texas and then confirmed by ESPN radio, Nick Saban's wife, Terry, was in Austin two weeks ago house hunting with her daughter-in-law.

Inside Texas' Jesus Shuttleworth, whose weekly column has grown a cult-like following, was the first to report on the Nick Saban's agent Jimmy Sexton speaking with Texas regents nine months ago. He also was one of the first to report about Texas' athletic director DeLoss Dodds end-of-year retirement. Suffice it to say, his credibility remains unquestioned.

Today on Adams and Loeb, ESPN's afternoon radio show in the Austin area, Alex Loeb doubled down on this report, claiming that his sources also believe it to be true. Burnt Orange Nation's Michael Pelech was listening at the time and describes the conversation below:

Alex Loeb who hosts the afternoon show on 104.9 in Austin with Sean Adams was saying how there was the Wallace Hall reaching out to Saban's agent story...then a few weeks ago there were reports that were pretty detailed about Terry Saban househunting in Austin, and that the report had a realtor's name and dollar figures and neighborhoods...and that he did some digging with people he trusts and that the report was completely true.
The original report on Inside Texas gives more details about Terry Saban's trip to Austin, including realtor information, ties with that agent to the athletic department, shady real estate dealings in Alabama, and Saban's relationship with Texas athletic department employees who likely helped set up the meeting. However, the report concedes that Mrs. Saban stated that she was only interested in purchasing a "vacation home" in the area.

So what is to be made of this report? With the backing of major players like ESPN allowing it over the airwaves and the historically accurate Jesus Shuttlesworth detailing her trip, it would be ignorant to just treat as hearsay. But it does lead to some important questions that need to be asked.

Why would Saban, the most methodical man in the country, allow his wife to travel to Austin at a time when the Texas coaching vacancy is all but announced? Did Saban think that this trip could have been done in secrecy? Does he really care if it gets out? (We've seen how he's treated job exits before.) Is Austin actually a city where people vacation?

It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out as the Nick Saban-to-Texas rumors continue apace.

Update (3:50pm)- ESPN Austin's Erin Hogan is also reporting these rumors, including intel from someone inside Travis County's sheriff's office who claims to have helped with Mrs. Saban's security.

I almost feel bad for enjoying watching things like this fall apart at the seams. Notice the last line from what Philly pasted earlier yesterday?

Now, look at this:

<strike>Update (3:50pm)- ESPN Austin's Erin Hogan is also reporting these rumors, including intel from someone inside Travis County's sheriff's office who claims to have helped with Mrs. Saban's security.</strike>
KXAN has now reported that the Travis County Sheriff's office could not confirm that they assisted with any security escorts for Mrs. Saban.

At least they didn't delete their update completely, right?

Since they do everything bigger in TX does that mean they use all caps for "OOPS?"

AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Travis County Sheriff's office was responding to rumors Wednesday about the wife of University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban recently being in Austin looking at homes.

The office reportedly offered security to Terry Saban, according to some media reports.

They tweeted Wednesday on their official Twitter account: "We cannot confirm stories from @ESPNAustin or @104.9TheHorn concerning security for Saban's wife in Austin without more info."

TCSO officials later told KXAN they didn't offer any kind of official security.

A follow up tweet said: "Regarding the Saban escort story it is hearsay. There was no deputy escort."

There was a media report in September that Saban's agent was contacted about taking the head coaching job at the University of Texas. That came after Saban's national championship victory last season.

That report first surfaced amidst the Longhorn's two non-conference losses when Mack Brown's job was the subject of much speculation. It also coincided with the announcement that Athletics Director DeLoss Dodds would be stepping down before the next school year.

Pardon the innuendo...without looking I'm sure I can find several threads around the 'net with rival fans getting a hard-on about Saban leaving...only to be left with no release.

Could be helping a newly married couple find a house...

A girl I go out with occasionally was reading over this thread a few minutes ago. She's a flight attendant and commented on how seldom she sees anyone who is that far along in their pregnancy on airlines. She did add that most of her trips are have a large majority of business travelers though due to her routes(?)

Who wants to stay in a hotel when recruiting Texas.

I stayed at a hotel in Killeen, TX for ten days once while working at Fort Hood. Train tracks ran right behind the hotel and a train came roaring through at 12:45 AM every night. And as it roared through and the ground shook, cockroaches scurried out of the walls running around the room. I'm sure Nick wouldn't mind that. :sarca:

as a father of 3, my wife was told to not travel more than an hour or so at all after about 7 months of pregnacy. Think about how large most women get near the end of their pregnacy, the seat belt probably wouldn't fit
