🏈 Hate to say it, but...

I think a lot has to happen to other teams now, since we have the one loss. We'd need to see many of those undefeateds ahead of us lose, and we must, MUST, win out. Seems pretty obvious, but look at the teams ahead and look at what they have left to do. I'm not sure anyone in the major conferences has as tough of a road schedule as we do. Essentially, outside of Duke, every road game we will have played will have been against top flite, top 10 schools. How often does that happen?

Boise isn't going to lose a game. TCU vs. Utah will leave the winner undefeated as well. Still, a one loss, SEC champ might get into the BCS title game before any of those. But what about Oregon, who doesn't play a conference championship game, has already beaten Stanford, and only has Arizona left to go. Perhaps Oregon State can get them. A one loss SEC champ like Alabama would likely get into the BCS championship before a one loss Pac 10 team.

So that leaves Ohio State (who is on it's way to Glendale), and guess who? Auburn. They are the only other one ranked ahead of us. And we play them head to head, at home. If this team has the strength to repeat, and I'm not sure it does, it goes through Auburn. We do play LSU before that, but they aren't ranked ahead of us. THAT game will likely be tougher than even Auburn, because of the road trip, and because they are defensively MUCH better than anyone else we have played. Better possibly than even South Carolina. Certainly better than Auburn.

It's a tough road to hold, but it can be done. Bama must win out, and some other things need to happen as well.

Even if we win out we have to have help from ohio state, oregon, nebraska, oklahoma in order to justify us moving in to one of the top two spots. IMO, Winning out is not enough...we have to have help.

Run the table, whip USCe in the SECC, Ohio St. will lose to Wisconsin and maybe another, Oregon gets beat by USC or UCLA or one of several other games, Oklahoma always chokes, Nebraska has a couple of games on their schedule that they could lose. Boise St or TCU isn't playing in the BCSC with the coaches poll a major factor. It'll take some help, but if we come out playing like I THINK we're going to come out playing, we could still get there.

I think Nebraska actually has the best shot at staying undefeated.

yeah this season is a bust...:lance: LSU didn't win a national title 2 years ago with 2 losses........

We lost one game people.. the sky is NOT fallling.

The last UNDEFEATED team other than Bama to win the BCS was Texas in 2006...

I still say that if we played SC in a best of series, we'd beat them in a near sweep. They caught us on a particularly down day, had the crowd involved, had the week off...Those aren't excuses, they are legitimate reasons why one team beats another. Ask all of the sec coaches why they want that off week before they play Alabama, and why the SEC office couldn't get that changed.

Last Saturday we were coming off two weeks playing top rated teams while USCe was off preparing to play us in their stadium.

We'd be playing them in Atlanta. And, I don't think even the Ole ball coach can beat Nick Saban twice in the same year.

Hopefully, we'll get a chance to find out.

Im thinking the exact same thing.

What makes any of you think that we can beat USCe in the SEC Championship?

Seriously, if we played them at home we would have won. We are young and have proven we need some work on the road. It will get straitened out. If the 2 of us make it to Atlanta and the championship is on the line you don't think Bama will take it. It's what we do. We win championships. If USCe makes it there it will be their first time and I couldn't see them beating Bama in the ATL.

HCNS has not lost two consecutive games to the same college team since 2001. Lost to UF his first two years at LSU. Is 13-0 since then.

I don't think SC can even beat UK this week much less beat Bama again. In the past 50 years VERY VERY few teams have won the following week after beating Bama in a big emotional game such as the one last week.

Pretty sure our shot at the NC is gone. I can't remember one who had a 14 point loss on the books.
Oh well, it was a pretty good run.

While we fans can worry about the NCG all we want, I am VERY hopeful - no I am certain - that CNS, his staff, and our players had BETTER be focused on the SECCG from this point forward and NOT even giving a thought to the NCG. We need to control what we can control and NOT worry about the rest. Complacency and planning on our NCG trip is what cost us the USC game. I have NO doubt that we would stomp them in a re-match. As far as playing Bama is concernced USC blew their load in absolute terms. They better hope they don't get us in a re-match.

SEC Champions is what matters most at this point. A National Championship involves too much that's out of our control. Laser focus on the SEC and the rest will take care of itself.

PS- as an aside, remember that college football is a VERY emotional game. OSU will lose one, Oregon can trip over OrSt, AZ, USC or UCLA. TCU and Utah can trip over each other and Air Force or BYU (or Notre Dame in Utah's case) and Boise BARELY beat Va Tech and OrSt and needed help with turnovers and stupid coaching in both of those games. They have Nevada away from that pathetic blue carpet and Nevada knows how to play them. You never know...

Cobra, I'll take it one step further and say that CNS, his staff and the team better be focused on Ole Miss this weekend. Let's please just get back to focusing on one week at a time.

CNS has a huge job in front of him this week. Last times our team suffered such emotional losses they came out and got embarassed by Utah and year before lost 3 in a row (ULM being one of those!). They must take care of business staring with Ole Miss and no one else.

Exactly! Look at UF. No way they should have lost to LSU. Were still lamenting the Bama loss instead of preparing for LSU.
