I believe Jalen Hurts dad and family refused to talk to the media since Jalen was going through his freshmen gag season. I've read plenty of reports during football season that have been picked up from family members on twitter and social media. They put info out there about certain players injuries and playing time that was being withheld by the coaches. Social media, 100 diff families, and a gag order sounds like the ingredients you would find in a molotov cocktail.

If these parents of UT kids see their (UT's) power brokers openly discuss the inner-workings of their Athletic Department what would keep them from doing the same?

The idea, in and of itself, is a good idea. However, there's something wrong with a coach asking parents not to talk to reporters and as soon as he's finished you have parents talking to reporters.

Texas hired Casey Horny (Baylor coach who was very outspoken in support of Art Briles).

Texas failed to address this immediately on 1/11, and such were hammered by their fans on social media and I'm sure their interim AD's email box was getting slammed. The AD released a statement on 1/17 which is below...needless to say, it still pissed off the fans.

I'm left wondering, what context Herman is referring to with regards to parents talking to others outside of the program.

Herman and Horny were at Texas together back in the day.
