The majority owner of my company is a Clemson alum, and big time booster. We of course could not avoid the subject as I, knowing he was a Tiger, showed up in my Bama best. What he told me was very surprising. He said that all the confidence that Clemson players and fans alike are showing, is basically just to hide the fact that they know what's coming. He said that the new money Clemson fans think they're gonna run thru us, but the older fans and alumnus know that Saban is about to field the most hungry, most disrespected team ever from Alabama. For those of you that have had to deal with the arrogant Clemson fans, just know, they are nervous. This is big boy football, and they know it.

Every day of my life and I've not seen one yet that's been arrogant to me. Respectful of the game that's coming, but certainly not nervous. No two fans are alike.

Ever, or just this one specific game? Cause when I lived in Charleston they were as bad as Georgia fans with we're God's gift, gonna win it all, yadda yadda and they'd lose five games and then the excuses started flowing.

There are assholes everywhere. The Thunder and Lightning game (was it '08 or '09 in Atlanta?) had some arrogant Clemson fans marauding about pregame, which made them slouching home all the better. First VaTech game under Saban was similar. Hell, I sat in THE middle of a Florida section at last year's SECCG and three or four guys behind me did their very best to make me miserable for about a quarter. Living in Atlanta, uga fans are challenging for sure. Familiarity breeds contempt. I don't think I've met an entire fan base I can stereotype as good or bad, arrogant or reserved, assholes or angels.

Gonna totally bogart the thread, but what is up with Ben Davis? Is he headed down the Jerrel Harris route? All the physical talent in the world, just can't get his head wrapped around the defense? I know we are still early on Davis, but I thought for sure he would see the field this year, especially after all the attrition at LB.

At this point I'm thinking it has to be a mental issue.

Well TerryP, your in the minority here. Everyone I've spoke to that's had dealings with them say the exact opposite of what you just said.
Hence ...

Not ever, just not in several years. '08 to be specific. As to this game, not a peep. Last year one person said something to me before the game and he's a UofSC fan (also a pretty big ass.)

There was a little smack running before that game. Not so much after.

@BamaFan334 I've even made it a point to listen in to the afternoon drive sports show--nary a braggadocious attitude to be found there either. Heck, was in their alumni groups game watching location with 30 or so yesterday and not a peep (long sleeved Bama football tee...they knew who I supported.)

I had some clemson kid next to me in that game go on and on about the the Thunder and the Lightning were about to strike during the pre-game... at the start of the 2nd half, I leaned over to him and said "with all this Thunder and Lightning, it's a good thing we're in a dome". He laughed and was a pretty good sport and took the beating in stride.

Wonder if finally winning it all was like losing their virginity again, just loose, happy, and proud? Damn, maybe we need Georgia to win it then!
