🏈 Gus Offense

Good article about the Gus high school offense and how it's holding Stidham back. I just find it fascinating that it took aubs so many years to figure out what everyone else already knew. Gus was not a genius,
. He was just lucky.

Gus High School Offense

Gus offense beat Bama in 2010/2013/2017/2019 so the barn wasn't about to listen to anything. Nick/Kirby/Pruitt/Pete had a difficult time bringing the high school offense to a stop. I am unsure why Gus every stopped going fast. Freeze is still going fast.

Regardless Gus is gone but he made damn near 70 million off Yella Fella, Lowder, Apple Man, and Harbert.

And half was free gratis ..... lol

I know its bad to say anything nice about GusBus on here....

but...he seems to worm his way out....and come out ahead...
Averaged ....10-12 million $$$ a year @AU ( adding in his buyout)
Not bad for averaging 7 wins a year...

The problem with the Gus offense is that it was feast or famine. He ran his plays regardless of the defense and it required a certain set of circumstance to exist in order to succeed. If those condition existed then the play would hit big. If it did not then the play would fail miserably. Gus didn't care what the defense did. He ran his plays no matter what. Contrast that with CNS or any other great coach. They see what the offense or defense is doing and adjust on the fly according to what they see. Saban was playing 3D chess while Gus was playing tic tac toe. And the Gus offense required a QB that was dynamic and could make plays happen when everything broke down, as it frequently did. That's why Cam and Nick Marshall were so successful in the Gus offense.

And...don't forget ....some ungodly amount of luck.....pure luck...not even imaginary amount of luck...
