Maybe, maybe not, but being the Head Coach of the University of Alabama is not a position where we want you to train on the job. Do that at a lesser program.
I think Bama has learned from allowing alumni (DuBose, Shula) to assume the HC job without ever being a HC at another college. DuBose had been a Bama Asst. and Shula a Pro Asst., but that obviously doesn't prepare you to be in charge of a program as big as Alabama. Now, currently, someone like Dabo Sweeney seems to be in a better position for an alumnus that would know how to run a big-time team.
