🏈 Greg Reed

His top five changed a few times late in the process. You'd see teams like Miami and Florida one day, then a team like Tennessee came in late in the game.

His decision, at least how I saw it, ended up being between FSU and Georgia. That said, we were in his top five all the time. While the other two teams in his top five changed UA, FSU and UGA were the constants.

As of the day before NSD Reid was ours ("100% Alabama")... I believe our staff was under the impression he was picking us... the night before NSD he spoke with his grandmother and she talked him into staying closer to home.

I had forgotten about that. His high school coach was in his ear that night as well now that I think about it.

I thought it was a close thing. Have you guys seen him play this year? He's pretty good.

He was suppose to go to UF, then slit right before signing day. Rumor was that playingtime at DB was going to be rough. So he switched to UGA-FSU and I also heard academics were a little shakey, but he got them together in the end.

He is a pretty good player, and when he figures the system out, he could be great.

Yes, he is.

It's been interesting for me to see what happens with some of the guys we have missed out on. You look at Reid and see him starting for FSU.

Stephon Gilmore is another. He's starting and having a heck of a season for South Carolina.

Then there is Robert Quinn is who wreaking havoc on some of the ACC offenses playing for North Carolina.

We were in the running for all of these guys right down until the end.

But, if they were at Bama, the chances of them starting here like they are now...slim. Possibly none.

Heck, we have the best cornerback in the nation from the 2008 class seeing very little duties on the field now save special teams and directional schools.

Says a lot when you think about it, doesn't it?

Yes it does and I know the preverbial, "It won't stop the good ones from coming because they have confidence in themselves." but the truth is that it will result in us losing some good recruits from time to time but I don't see us losing overall quality in any class under Saban.

Yeah it says that we have depth at Alabama finally, and I love it like hell.
