🏈 Great Story

I live in Slidell LA, right outside New Orleans. I just moved here 2 days before Gustav.I really love the place and the people around here. But I was really shocked with how some people are so nice to do what this man did for me Monday in the French Quarter at MargaritaVille.

So me and my family(that are down visiting for Christmas and New Years)are shopping in the French Quarter after we ate at a nice little oyster bar. Me and my Dad decide we are tired of following the girls around while they shop. So we head into MargaritaVille to have a marga, and a few beers. A really cool bartender hooked us up with a couple free margas bc we talked alot of good football with him. Then these 2 older guys in Bama gear come in to have a few. We throw each other a big long roooooooooooooll tide roll. After awhile he started talking about our team and how proud he was of them. I comment back about how interesting next year is gonna be too, and about our upcoming recruiting class.Well finally we introduce ourselves, turns out he is from New Orleans area and has close relatives who live in AL. We reminisce about our own highschool football years. I told him I attended the UofA to do my Basics before attending Culinary school. Then I asked him how he was not a Tiger fan instead? (Even my girlfriend is a LSU fan lol). He tells me He and his Dad attended the National Championship Sugar Bowl when we played Penn State. And he said ever since then he has loved the Tide.I then tell him about the first time I attended a Bama game. It was the 99' Iron Bowl, last game at legion field. We were down 17 and Alexander tore them apart to comeback and win!
-Then he asked me "so you going to the game tomorrow?"
-I replied "No sir I tryed to get tickets from a waitress at work but it turned out to be a -no go-."
-He replied "So how many tickets were you trying to get?"
-I said " two, for me and my dad. I would love to return the favor(since he took me to the 99'Iron Bowl)"
-him_ " Well I could probably get you a few tickets"
-me_ "How much do think they would be?"
-him_" It's on me young man its been a pleasure talking to you!"
-me_ "no way I gotta give you something. cook for you?(Im a Chef;))buy you some drinks? anything...?"
-him_ " nah seriously it's on me. but here is my number give me a call tomorrow and i will know for sure if I can get them or not."
-me_ "wow thank you sir I seriously have goosebumps right now like someone should pinch me. Thanks!! you have really made my day!"

I call him the next day he says he got them and he would meet me at the same place at noon on Fri. to give me and my dad the tickets.

This has been a dream come true! I also love the Saints and have never been to a Pro Football game before. Much less the famous "SUPER DOME!!!", so i am really looking forward to being in there!!

ROLL TIDE ROLL !!!
And God Bless the people in this World that still think about doing for others and making this World a better place!!

Good for you, Chef! Hope all goes well tonight for you and your Dad at the game.

Honestly, as I started reading this, I thought I was getting ready to hear one of those infamous New Orleans "tourist-gets-taken" stories.

I remember right before I made my first trip to New Orleans, a fellow co-worker, who grew up in Metarie, gave me a thorough briefing on some of the scams, tricks, etc. that the locals will pull on "gullible" tourists--you know, like the stranger who comes up and wants to bet you $10.00 that he can tell you where you got your shoes. And you know dang good and well that the dude could not possibly know that you bought them in Gadsden and you figured you are gonna make an easy $10.00. Then the stranger proceeds to tell you that "you got those shoes on Bourbon Street."

Glad to read that this was a genuine, legit somebody-doing-something-nice-for-somebody-else story.

RTR!

So, then what happens when you tell him to pay up for being wrong?

He's not wrong. Your shoes would be right there on Bourbon Street. "I can tell you where you got 'em" isn't the same as "I can tell you where you bought 'em."

It's not worth $10 though.
