Sorry if this has already been posted on another thread. I didn't see it in any threads after a cursory inspection.

This is from the press conference the other day.

" I don't care about winning a National Championship, I care about every player on my team playing the best game they've played" - University of Alabama Head Football Coach, Nick Saban in response to his hopes for the upcoming game against the University of Texas

I love me some Coach Saban. I have such a mancrush. Total bromance.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. A mancrush over CNS is fine, but CNS ain't got time for a stinkin' bromance. He's got things to do, aight.

Apparently, lately he hasn't had time for his wife

While I to love his nobility, I would have to disagree. I don't care if the players play the worst game ever, as long as they win.

Of course if everyone on the team plays great, they can't lose

and the fact that a head coach has not won a natl championship at two different schools in a LONG time.

I think the message Saban is trying to get across to the team is just to play this game like any other game. I'm sure that message is going to be hard to get across.

While I appreciate the focus he's trying to maintain, I don't believe for a second he doesn't understand the position he's in...

Seriously. He knows he's on the cusp of bringing home the most successful season this school has had in its football history. (in terms of recognition/awards) That in itself takes up a bit of space in Bryant Museum.

He wants his corner.

There is no DOUBT that he wants that win. I think he is trying to get through to his players and staff a different message though.

If THEY coach and play their very best, the rest of it will take care of itself. One begets the other, but not the other way around so to speak.

I'm with you Terryp. I have to call his bluff on this one. Winning that national title is the ultimate goal, and often times a once in a lifetime proposition, especially for players who only get 4 tries anyway. Saban wants to win the game, and it's all he's thinking about. I'm not saying he's not doing the preparations the way they should be done, but the goal is still to win.

I want him to get it. I want him to get that statue out there. Question is, does the University go ahead and put the statue up, or do they ask Saban if he would prefer to wait a few years? Since Bowden's statue went up in tallahassee, I don't think they've beat anybody!
