The NCAA's four-year Graduation Success Rate statistics for the Top 25 teams currently in The Associated Press college football poll. The report was released Thursday:

1. Alabama, 75 percent

2. Oregon, 64 percent

3. Florida, 75 percent

4. Kansas St., 58 percent

5. Notre Dame, 97 percent

6. LSU, 77 percent

7. Oregon St., 60 percent

8. Oklahoma, 47 percent

9. Ohio State, 74 percent

10. USC, 57 percent

11. Florida St., 55 percent

12. Georgia, 69 percent

13. Mississippi St., 60 percent

14. Clemson, 75 percent

15. Texas Tech, 66 percent

16. Louisville, 63 percent

17. South Carolina, 55 percent

18. Rutgers, 91 percent

19. Stanford, 90 percent

20. Michigan, 69 percent

21. Boise St., 81 percent

22. Texas A&M, 69 percent

23. Ohio, 74 percent

24. Louisiana Tech, 73 percent

25. West Virginia, 79 percent

Worst graduation rate vs the best graduation rate this weekend. We've had the Catholics vs convicts, what's a good moniker for this one?

(I got a laugh when I first heard the ineligibowl word thrown out for the PSU vs OSU game)

The figures also made for another interesting comparison of a marquee matchup. Notre Dame, No. 5 in the coaches poll, takes on No. 7 Oklahoma in a game with implications in the BCS race. While Notre Dame ranks No. 1 in GSR among teams in the coaches poll, Oklahoma is 25th, with a graduation rate of 47%.. Oklahoma's overall ranking was 220th of 236 football schools in Division I and last among teams in the leagues with automatic berths in the BCS.

Worth noting...

The GSR measures graduation over a six-year period. The figures released Thursday are for students who entered college in 2005. Unlike the federal graduation rate, the GSR takes into account transfer students and students who leave school while in good academic standing.

Does the graduation rate include players who leave early for the NFL? It would seem that would distort and slant the numbers away from football programs with NFL caliber athletes vs teams without...
