Good read....

I get so frustrated sometimes at the obvious bias fans write with. I recognize Frank from previous articles he has written, this article like most, is a pretty fair assessment.

Pretty fair article. It's been an awfully long time since I've been completely confident in a Tide kicker. Don't even get me started on punters. Bring back Lane Bearden. Not only was he tough, he was actually skilled a flipping field position. This is an area in which I hope our recruiting will bring about dramatic improvement.

I don't have the stats before me, but I think that after the Georgia game our punt coverage got pretty good.

I remember it seeming that way to me, but like you I don't have stats with me.

I just looked up the punt return stats. Including the bowl game we had 27 punt returns for 242 yards, or a 9.0 average. Georgia returned one punt for 92 yards and a TD in that game, and if I remember the play right they should hve been hit for a block in the back penalty on it. Other than that one play we had 26 kicks returned for 150 yards, for an altogether respectable 5.8 per return. We can do bettyer, but that doesn't seem like a serious problem to me.
