A lot of Bama fans I know, the people at my house last night along with a lot of fb friends, were really feeling sorry for Mettenberger. The game is over, yet Lester had Mettenberger in for the 4th down...Why??

Yeah that was pitiful. It looked like pain + utter defeat + frustration .. x100. I actually felt bad. He was raging on the sideline (to himself) after that.

I was thinking maybe he had been cramping, but if that was the case those cramps sure went away quick.

I saw him throw his helmet to the ground once he got to the sideline...and it wasn't that far from his teammates legs/feet. Maybe it's just me, but I think a lot of coaches would have gotten upset about that. Maybe Lester said something to him once he calmed down.

If he had kept on crawling like that, think the training staff would have let him crawl all the way into the locker room? Onto the team bus? Crawl into the airport to fly home? One year one of my teammates (we called him Bony) "got hurt" almost every game. Walking to the field right before the game, we spotted an ambulance and yelled, "Hey Bony, your ride's here!"

I think there was something with his knee going on. Everytime he got popped he got up favoring it and that last sack Hubbard just plain flung the tackle at Mettenberger and the dude rolled up his knee.

He was limping bad on at least two occasions in the first half that I could see.

He plays football he knew that it was coming, it's not like it happen before.

I wanted our defense to affect his play and prevent a comeback. Once they did that, I take no joy in him getting hurt their last offensive play of the game. On his side of the tally, he needs to throw the ball.
