I know Ted Newsome mentioned in the story. He played high school ball in Portsmouth and later returned to be an assistant coach for Curt Clifford. Recently he has been the head football coach at Franklin Furnace Green just up river from Portsmouth. Last spring he resigned from that position and is now the OL coach at Ironton, OH., home of the Fighting Tigers. Ironton has a very rich football tradition in the state of Ohio. Former Coach Lutz is the all time winningest coach in the state. Portsmouth and Ironton also have the 2nd longest active series in the state.
