This is first game I have been to bryant denny in many years. Taking the wife for our anniversary to game and trip to Tuscaloosa & Birmingham. Give me some do's and dont's for gameday. As I said its been a while. When is walk of champions? Food do's and dont's and other tips. Thanks in advance. Roll tide!

Eating at a sit down restaurant will be iffy. Most are too crowded and food/service suffer. Lunch will be easier than dinner.
Go to the Bryant Museum. It doesn't take long but you see a lot of history.
Walk the quad and experience the fandom.

Grab a BBQ sandwich from Big Bad Wolf BBQ stand. If there are any blue hairs sitting behind you it is your duty to stand up the entire game.

To follow up on Pinks suggestion; if you do indeed start drinking at 6AM, and you find out you cant "handle yo shit" please find a quiet out of sight area to lie down, and sleep it off... DO NOT under any circumstances tee-bag an Ole Miss fan.

Almost forgot... let your wife know in advance that you will not be using blinders. There will be so much fine-ass trim walking around you WILL NOT be able to resist it. It is best to let your wife know that you will be staring... with your mouth open, and to not mess this up for you. So. Much. Hawt. Tang.

-Walk of Champions is usually 2 hours before kickoff

- Go to Baumhowers Wings, you will not regret it

- Players stay at the Capstone Hotel last I checked, it's not super nice or anything but Book your stay there. Players will be all over the place. I got stuck on an elevator with Mark Ingram in 09.

- Waysiders for Breakfast, place is legit

- Evanginlines for the wife, nice romantic type place, good food

Gameday

-Go to the game early, obviously the walk of champions so at least 2 hrs early

- Not sure where you planned to park but a nice spot is the Publix on Campus Drive by the parking garage for zone members. Easy way to get there, Take McFarland to Jack Warner, turn on Marrs Springs Rd, then right onto Campus Dr. Publix is on the right. about a 500 yard walk to BDS as opposed to miles.

- If you have time swing in the local shops, locker room, tusk wear etc, buy you something

- After the game wait at the gates just shy of where the players are supposed to come out. They always go to a different gate to avoid the crowd, they will have on Crimson Track Suits and be carrying a black bag with their number on it. Get some autographs if you want. You will have to walk past this area to get back to the Publix, across the Walk of Champions lawn.

- if you want hit the Quad, its a rowdy bunch but there is good food and general shenanigans to be had. Sometimes previous players are out signing stuff. Shawn Alexander goes out alot.

That's all I can think of.

Get your picture taken with the Andy Griffith statue.

Pace your drinking. Couple of bloody marys to start then switch off to a decent light beer or a good IPA in moderation. Don't start on the liquor until 45 minutes or so to kick off. Don't be the guy who bums beers or cigarettes from folks tailgating on the Quad. Do cruise the Quad and check out the setups. Don't be shy about stopping and talking to tailgaters, you may get offered some good food. Go to the Museum as oldplayer said, it gets better every year. If you encounter cocky OM fan(s) subtly work references to black bears, the rebel flag, Ed Orgeron and Brent Schaffer into the conversation. Ask them whatever happened to Jevan Sneed and Raymond Cotton also. For bonus points ask if they ever found out which frat boy owned those red high heels that ended up in the endzone.

If you haven't already, make reservations for a place to spend the night somewhere now. They are very scarce this time of the year (and expensive.) Usually a two night minimum.

My usual routine these days, get there about 3 hrs before KO. Walk from our lot to the Strip, usually do the Pita Pit(holds me over nicely until after the game and not as crowded as other places). Then about 2.5 hrs before KO, make my way to the stadium, watch the Walk, then enter the stadium(gates open at 2 hrs til KO) for the long ass walk up the ramp, to the top, hang around on the outer rim, watch the MDB make their way in, then hit my seats, watch intro vids and then stand for 4 hrs, screaming my bloody head off.

Now as for the OP, make sure you get there 4 or 5 hrs prior to KO, so you can check out the quad, Denny Chimes, The Bryant Museum before making your way to get something to eat, either at one of the vendors on the quad, at Rama Jamas or on the Strip. Then you can do the other stuff I listed or just wing it.

Yeah getting a hotel may be tricky... figured you were staying in bham since you said ttown/bham.

Galletes and Houndstooth for drinks on the strip. Big Bad Wolf for close, quick food that is really good.

The Quad isn't the only place to wonder tailgates either... take a walk around campus and see what all has changed. I get surprised year after year when I see the new stuff (and I get lost now too with all the new buildings).

If you get there Friday, drive around campus... much easier to see the new layout, and avoid the game day traffic.

Basically this is what you need to do:
Park near the Moody Music Building/Bryant Museum and check out Bryant. Then walk down University to see the tailgating and the Quad. Make your way to the strip and have lunch and drinks and shopping until game time (although if shopping you may want to walk the stuff back to the car before game). Then do the game stuff like walk of champions and yelling drunkenly at innocent people for being in "your" seats.

Bacon wrapped jalapeno appetizer at Tin Top - amazing! I agree about the Waysider for breakfast, but be prepared to wait a good long while to get a table. Evangeline's is nice as is Chuck's for dinner - I wasn't real impressed with the restaurant in the new Embassy Suites.

Gillettes for a Yellow Hammer, Quad to just be in the middle of everything and enjoy the set ups, check out some of the little shirt stands, food can be gotten anywhere and enjoyed. Parking is a tough one, but maybe out near the new Greek houses. Hell, just don't bring bad luck, ha ha. You will have a blast anywhere you go doing anything you do. It's an anticipated game due to last year, so everyone will be amped up and a good time can be found anywhere. Highly doubt you find a room anywhere close at this point though.

If you're going to be hanging around Tuscaloosa, get to the Waysider for breakfast. Eat at Archibald's. Original Dreamland. I completely agree on the Bryant Museum, and enjoying the Walk of Champions. If you can get down on a Friday, you can knock out some of those things before it gets too crowded. Some of the on-quad grab a bite places mentioned are good, looking over the past captains around Denny Chimes is pretty neat.

Man, I'm hungry.
