🏈 Glen Coffee Arrested

Go to the 14th comment on that link. It seems that maybe the cops may have been a little overzealous in arresting Glenn. It doesn't make it any better, but you do have the right to carry a concealed weapon in alot of states with our without a permit. I would like to see this one thrown out.

"...vehicle was deemed unlawful to be on the roadway.."

That is the kicker! The lack of registration/insurance will go against him in this case.
And here again...nobody seems to be sure if the ability to carry a firearm in a vehicle is based on "street legal only" vehicles...or ANY vehicles?

If the law requires the vehicle to be street legal IN ORDER to carry a weapon...then he's guilty.

At worst I think the registration and insurance should stick. I think the gun possession is something that should be dropped. Street legal or not, why should that alter ones ability to carry a concealed weapon?

Moral of the story...he should have known better. Period.

-Don't speed

-Carry proof of insurance/registration
(I wonder if the vehicle was even HIS? The lack of insurance/registration stands out the most in my opinion. If the vehicle WAS/IS HIS...then he's just plain stupid)

-Don't carry a gun in your vehicle

Closer to home story on Coffee. We all know (factual or not) TMZ is trash!

He will probably plead no contest and get off lightly. This is like Plaxico Burress but with huge differences.

1 This aint new york

2. Coffee has shown to be an outstanding individual in recent years. Im sure he has no past serious convictions, and he wasnt up to something morally wrong I think (Plaxico shot himself at a strip cluub, this was in his vehicle.

3. He is known, but as he quit the NFL he is obascure enough to not warrant an example made of him like plaxico was.

Ill be surprised if he sees jail time.

i am going to take up for coffee on this one, and here's why.

coffee was arrested in his hometown..

my father is well known in the small town he lives in.. so well known that they tried to get him to be the mayor. he owns a business in that town, and was a star football player in that town back i the day..

he and i got pulled over late one evening going to the store to get some steaks to grill.. he did not even carry his wallet because i was buying, but he offered to drive and i accepted.. we got pulled over for doing 10 miles over the speed limit by a state trooper.. my father having not been pulled over in probably 30 years open the door and got out of the car.. the state trooper put him up against the car and searched us both and the vehicle.. the fact that his information was left at home did not help matters, but we were only about 2 miles from the house.. anyway, after multiple tickets and some explaining we were able to drive away.. i would say we were one weapon away from going to jail.. and it would not be uncommon for us to possibly have one.. we do hunt and my father does own a pistol that i enjoy shooting..

the case was wiped clean before me father had to appear in court.. my point is that we were in our own back yard and acted as if we were at home.. an officer that was not from our area made asumptions about the situation that were not correct..

i think coffee could be truly innocent in this matter.. after all, that is the nature of our justice system

Inocent or Guilty. Weather you have nothing to hide or not. there are 3 things to always remember when dealing with the police.

1. Officer i do not concent to a search.
2. Officer i have nothing to say.
3. Officer am i free to go.

ASSERT YOUR RIGHTS! Politly & respectfully assert your rights. In this case if Mr. Coffee consented to a search of his vehichle then he has offically forfited his rights against serch & sesure.
While in a lot of ways the ACLU is a crap oginazation.....they get this part right. We have a bill of rights for a reason. Wjhen stoped by a police officer you have rights. and everyone should excersize those rights.
If not your allowing yourself to be wide open for thier "Gotcha Games". The fact is that 99% of the populace arne't adiquitly prepoared for the strees of what happens in a police stop.
They often time mistakenly roll over like sheep. you do not have to do this. 1. make sure yout windows are rolled up & doors are locked. 2. when the officer approaches, shut the car off & remove the keys place your hands @ 10 & 2 on the wheel where they can be easliy seen. When asked for id & Papers give them polightly. (only rolling the window 1/2 way down. The old "i smell pot routine" is a excuse for probible cause. do not give them the chance....even if your sober.
If and when asked to step out of the car do so, slowly & politely.....BUT LOCK YOUR DOORS. Cooperate fully. & remain polite.
If they pat you down they are only allowed to feel the outside of your clothing. they can not go into your pockets with out a warrent. they cannot serch your car with out one either! don't be intimidated by them. I have law enforcment in my family....i know what i'm talking about.
there's an awsome video on youtube that covers this. & everyone needs to watch it. Matter of fact i'll posty the link. It is 45 mins long but well worth watching.
And just becuase you choose to assert your rights doesn't make you a criminal. period.

and for those that like to drink a little.....never ever consent to a feild sobrity test or a brethalizer. This vilolates your rights under the 5th amendment. you cannot knowingly self inciminate. Refuse BOTH. they will arest you if they think your drunk. But when it goes to court they have no proof & 8 out of 10 times the judge will dismiss.

that's what i'm talking about

If Florida law is like Alabama law, if his pistol had been out in the open on the front seat of the car there would be no firearms violation.

Glenn seems like a really good guy. I hope he gets all this worked out.
