"I just can't imagine anybody playing any better than the Alabama team this year did," he says.

Gene Stallings was in New Orleans for the BCS National Championship Game to watch Alabama's 21-0 win over LSU on Jan. 9.

Stallings said Thursday he watched the 1992 national championship game again just two days before the Crimson Tide's most recent championship.

He led then-ranked No. 2 Alabama in an epic upset of then-No. 1 Miami, 34-13 on Jan. 1, 1993. It remains one of the most memorable national championship games in college football history, and earned the Tide its 12th national championship.

Alabama's most recently claimed its 14th national championship under fifth-year coach Nick Saban, his second in three seasons.
