🏈 Game Week~ Wisconsin

I believe alabama will still pass more then most think. I think we will try a few deep throws several times in game to keep
the defense honest and lots of short safe routes. run 55% throw 45%, more as season goes on. I also think Drake will be
listed on starting depth chart maybe Henry (1-a) Drake (1b). He will be consider a starter.

Drake in the wildcat who can either run with it, or lateral to Bateman, or vertical to Bateman, or hand it to Bateman, and unless it's a vertical to Bateman, Bateman can either run with it, or throw it himself to one of our WRs or RBs.

How many folks would have predicted the likes of Steadman Shealy, Mike Shula, David Smith, Gary Hollingsworth, Jay Barker or Greg McElroy to become Alabama's QB over the 5*s on the roster along with them? The only true high school "stud" I can recall really winning the job was McCarron. It is uncanny.
Croyle was one of the top QBs coming out of HS.... but in general, you're right.

@CrimsonBoz Question: We've heard a lot about Offense and the package they're installing.. but I don't think anyone asked about Defense.. did we make some changes on defense... Will we play more man to man coverage...did they remove few plays out of the packages... Did Mel Tucker help with package installation to help his secondary better?

I would like to see Henry lined up as a full back with Drake behind him. It would put a ton of pressure on opposing defenses to read the pay and make appropriate adjustments. Not saying use him as a fullback, but rather line him up, shift him or drake, and just cause havoc.

We have 2 former corners at safety and our overall pass coverage will be better. And both Ragland and Reuben are solid upgrades in pass coverage over DePriest. In fact, Reuben appears to be set to stay in the game in nickel and dime, indicating we feel he is even better than Ragland vs the pass. I feel the results will be obvious. Our Safeties were great in run support but lacked pass coverage ability, that has changed, our deep pass vulnerability was linked to having two strong safety types at safety with an average, to at times below average, pass defender at middle backer. The safeties had to either pinch in to help the medium middle routes, which left us exposed to deep sideline passes, or flare out to better cover the deep sidelines and expose the middle. Every third down converted by OSU in the SB was in the middle as we had prepped for the sideline. Mel Tucker changed alot, you will see a big difference in their coverage.
