🏈 GAME THREAD: LSU vs BAMA

Just being a numbers guy...Could it just be that the terrible Defensive rankings of LSU's opponents are skewed a little due to the fact that LSU ran through them like a dose of salts? Therefore, this isn't necessarily an indication their opponents bad defense but how good LSU is a running... I lean toward the latter. And to say the least, this is what Les Miles wants in an offense. He knows it well, loves it well, & can coach it well.

Now, I am fairly confident that our front 7 can do their job well. UF didn't let LSU have any plays over 20 yards. By God, you know that is what CNS is coaching them up to do. Now, the entire pressure will be on our Offense, IMO, so that Miles is sorta forced to take the ball out of Fournette's hands, into Harris'.

Much to what @TerryP alludes to at the game hinging on Harris, IF we can stop Fournettte. And I can already hear Danieleson (I always think of Mr. Miyagi, very good Daniel son), you have to have a good QB to beat Alabama. Or one that plays the game of his life.

At lunch today, ran into 3 LSU fans within 30 mins at the same location. One as I entered the restaurant wearing a hat. The next person had his back to me as I was walking out (purple and gold tshirt). As I walked by him an older man stopped me and told me that he thinks LSU wins the game easily. I smiled and said Roll Tide.

I can only imagine what the phrase Roll Tide means to our rivals. It must be like nails on the chalkboard, a dagger in their heart, a shank in their back, or quiet frankly nuts in their mouth while drunk at a Krystal. That being said, Roll Tide.

I guess I will humbly disagree here. Steeles history of DC/LB coaching and HC (Baylor 9-36) is not impressive at all. Even at Bama in 07, 08, he was mediocre in my opinion. Clemson ran him off to in 12'. He lived off his years at Nebraska but never has been able to have phenomenal success. I think his time has came and gone.

Correct. Not worried about his scheming at all. If they have success defensively it will be because Bama implodes or their talent level alone.

Here is my take, for what it is worth:

1) If we can contain L7 without moving a safety down into the box, it is likely to be a long day for the bungle tigers. Alternatively, if we do have to move a safety into the box and LSU can't capitalize with big plays through the air, same result.

2) We must eliminate turnovers.

3) We need to punish them if they blitz with screens to Henry. We haven't done a lot of that this year, but I still remember the Yeldon screen that won us the game a few years back.

4) Special teams doesn't necessarily have to be special, but they can't be special ed, either. We need Scott to flip field position when we have to punt and we need the return game to not put us in negative field position with fumbles or bone-headedness.

5) Offensive line may need help chipping outside rushers. If Henry or Howard can get a piece of the D-Lineman on their way into the pattern, that will take a lot of pressure off of our Tackles.

I think we will get enough of this done to win by a fairly large margin. Our secondary is going to be the key, because Harris will have to win the game for them. He has played 2 road games this season, and none were against a crowd like ours in the pressure cooker that is the national spotlight this game will have.

Hello guys. Hopefully the Woolly Al is up soon. (A good lesson to the idiots who burned bridges when they left. Totally uncalled for.) I have posted here some since the new woolly has been created so im not necessarily coming back, i never left here really. Anyways i wrote this weekly On The Radar thread earlier in the week so i may as well post it some where...

Solid A type of weekend in College Football.

ON THE RADAR:

Thurs – 630 – #2 Baylor @ K State. Kansas State is in a 4 loss streak. But this will be the new QBs first start, in an away game, on a Thurs night. Also despite being blow out by OU and UT, K State did play TCU and Okie lite close. Its at least worth checking in on at half time. (Okay i wrote this up earlier and yea the game turned out great!)

Sat

230 – #17 Florida State vs #3Clemson. For the battle to control their destiny of the ACC ATL.

- #19 Ole miss vs Arkansas – Bama fans still looking for that next OM loss to regain control of SEC W.

- #5 TCU @ #12 Oklahoma State – The battle of the undefeated’s. And they didn’t even get game day.

700 – #4 LSU @ #7 Bama – Roll Tide Roll, limit Fournette, torture Harris, get the W!

What games are you looking forward to OFF THE RADAR?

- For me… #10Iowa @ Indiana – Undefeated Hawkeyes on the road…upset alerttttt.

Making the grade: A lot of high quality football both ON and OFF the radar.

Here is a stat to chew on. The BAMA defense has faced 70 more plays than the LSwho defense, (cancelled game with McNeese State). Our defense has given up 5 FEWER YARDS THAN LSwho as well. While Lswho defense is being given some lofty rankings, I think they need to be adjusted somewhat.

Really the key is to play from the lead... L7 will get yardage and will be likely to break some long ones... it is what it is...

However, if we can play from the lead it affords a level of risk we can take on Defense to try and create negative plays AND it allows control our own offense and how we want to call it... if we are playing catchup... all bets are off.

It goes even further than that.

Their secondary has given up more touchdowns, with one less game.
LSU has played one less game than Bama and has given up about the same amount of passing yards.
LSU has played one less game than Bama and has @ 30 less attempts against the secondary ... with the about the same number of completions.

What makes this game a little unique is there isn't a common opponent we can look at to see how each team did. But, I'm not even sure that'd tell us anything substantive.
