🏈 Game manager needs to change... read before u flame me

Lot of valid points guys.. thanks for the input. I agree with a lot of stuff about the defense too. We win out, play in NC and we still have the greatest fan base in the world. Keep the faith and Roll Tide.

Do I think our best QB is sitting on the sidelines? Yes.

Of course the backup QB is always better than the guy starting. When Zow was in people wanted Watts. When Watts was in people wanted Croyle. When Croyle was in people wanted JPW, and when JPW was in people wanted McElroy.

The cycle repeats itself every year. AJ throws one deep pass TD to Julio in a game against San Jose St and he's automatically crowned the better QB? :headscratch:

How about the deep balls thrown by Greg against VT? One to Hanks and one to Maze. How about Arkansas last year when he hit Julio on a 50 yard strike? Or against Miss St when he hit Julio for a long TD. It seems our memory is short. The guy has one bad game (really his stats werent bad) and people want to vote the guy off the island. Hey Greg thanks for your leadership in a 19 game win streak, SEC title, and National title. There's the bench. :lance:

I'm not basing AJ being the better QB on a deep ball he threw against against San Jose St. I'm basing it on what I've seen every Saturday for the last two years, and seeing AJ play in a hundred or so games. There are other reasons also, but I will keep them to myself for the sake of our team. Like I said, I think GMAC should be the starter, but I do not think he is the most talented. It's just my opinion. At this level, experience is key. AJ does not have the experience, nor would I expect him to start in front of GMAC. Neither does AJ. He understands the big picture.

This is kind of off topic, but since we've been discussing AJ here goes. Obviously he played last week at SC. The bad snap where the extra point was missed looked to be just that - a bad snap. It didn't look like anything AJ did or didn't do.

AJ was seen wearing a brace on his wrist last week. Is that common for QB's? I've never seen Greg wear one. Just wondering. Obviously if he's injured it's not a big deal. He didn't seem to be favoring it on Sat. Again, probably nothing to be concerned about.

:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

The man is 19-1 with a NC ring. Why is the benching of GMac even a topic?

Thank You !!!! The young man loses one game then everybody wants to replace him  Just in case you forgot , he help lead us to a National Championship last season in his first year as a stater .

We will be fine , I think the whole team needed a kick in A$$ , I hate to see them lose but sometimes thats whats needed . Look how they responded after the Utah beat down , I hope this will have the same effect .

ROLL TIDE ROLL !!!

I think the entire idea of how we approached this season changed a great deal with the loss. From what I can surmise, from the beginning of the year we knew that we would have a very efficient and possibly explosive offense on our hands. So we looked to minimize the defenses presence in the games. Gmac is the perfect guy to execute that type of game plan; be efficient, make no mistakes, keep the offense rolling and eat a lot of clock. Over the past handful of games the lumps that the defense was taking pushed the offense to go more conservative in an attempt to control the game a little more, and that diverted us from looking at taking some deeper chances down the field. We became a dink and dunk offense with little down-field capability. Along comes South Carolina, who plays an absolute lights-out game against us and puts up a quick 21 points, forcing us to play a more risk based game when weren't prepared to do so and they sink us.

Joe Paterno has a saying "when you win, you're never as good as you think you are, and when you lose, you're never as bad as you think you are." I think it's kind of fitting for this week, we got a dose of reality, people are catching up, it's time to work harder and pull the trigger when the opportunity is there. Meanwhile all is not lost, there is great potential for this team, now they have to realize that potential. Gmac is currently the best equipped QB on the team to quickly turn the corner and get things righted, he may not be the most physically gifted as AJ, but he's a champion and there really isn't a bigger intangible than being a champion. Hopefully the whole team gets it, and maybe this setback was needed as Bigdaddy51200 said to give them that kick in the a** that you have to get out there and earn the wins.

GMac is light years ahead of AJ in overall QB play. Having a big-time arm has little to do with playing QB effectively. AJ is NOT ready for anything more than a backup role and it has nothing to do with physical ability. AJ wants to play but he, himself, knows this!!
The deep plays are called from the box, but the QB has to throw the ball. When Saban publicly says we need to throw down the field more he isn't talking to Coach Mac!
GMac's main concern is not making the big mistake, which is what he is rightly taught. He picks his spots, but everyone wishes he'd pick a few more. He goes to the line with two plays every snap and he decides what the defense is giving him. Frankly, he does a good job reading the defense.
Our WR's are great blockers but poor at consistently beating man coverage.
Does GMac wait too long to throw it sometimes? Yes. Has he made some absolutely perfect "squeeze it in" throws this year? Yes. Does he pass up the deep ball for a more sure short route? Yes, he does this a lot. We often have a deep man running free and Greg will check it down or throw an intermediate option because he's lost a little confidence in our ability to complete the deep ball.
Has GMac put the ball right in there only to have the WR drop it? Yes, at least once every game.
